Nikon's 1 Nikkor 10mm f/2.8 Lens (Black) is a fast f/2.8 fixed focal length lens designed for use with the Nikon 1 CX format mirror-less cameras. Its 27mm (equivalent in 35mm format) focal length is a versatile choice, equally able to handle family snapshots, landscapes, party pictures and portraits.
Using an aspherical lens element, this lens offers excellent correction of lens aberration and wide-angle distortion. The Super Integrated Coating reduces ghosting and flare, and delivers superior color balance. Rear focusing makes the autofocus operation smoother and faster. This is a lens you can carry all day and not even notice--it comes in at less than 1" in length, and only weighs 2.8oz (77 g).

I use the Nikon 1 V1 as my everyday camera. It travels with me at all times. The 1 Nikkor 10mm f/2.8 lens works as my primary lens. I carry the 10-30mm and 30-110mm lenses as well.
At f/4.0 this is a tack sharp pancake. And even at the widest aperture it is more than acceptable. Unlike the two zooms you cannot turn on the camera by rotating this lens. But when working in downtown areas with tall buildings and narrow walkways this is the lens to have when you want to capture images in a surreptitious manner.

Having purchased the J1, 10-30 and 30-110, I thought I was done. Then a couple of occasions occurred when my wife (the camera's owner) didn't take the camera because it wouldn't fit in her pocket.
I bought this lens and now it fits in her pocket and gets taken. Why have such a beautifully small camera and not take full advantage of it.
Optically it's sharp and focuses quickly.
