The GoPro HD HERO2 Motorsports Edition is specifically designed for shooting HD video while you're riding the trail, the road or the track. You can capture 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps), 960p at 48 or 30 fps, and 720p video at 30 or 60 fps, as well as 5, 8 or 11 megapixel digital still photos. The HD HERO2 Motorsports Edition comes with a suction cup mount, J-Hook, three curved adhesive mounts, two flat adhesive mounts and a three-way pivot arm. This makes the HD HERO2 Motorsports Edition the easiest action camera to use and mount to practically any frame. Plus, plenty of optional accessories can be used with the camera for shooting in a variety of other settings.
In addition to giving you shooting capabilities almost anywhere, the HD HERO2 Motorsports Edition features an integrated battery warmer for longer battery life in colder temperatures, Wi-Fi BacPac / Wi-Fi Remote compatibility, and an easy-to-use LCD interface. Really glad I returned the HD HERO for this one, it is way better especially in low light. I'm not saying it's perfect but if you really want something with super quality then just use a DSLR and stop complaining. I use it for bicycling and as a dash camera. Have not tried the 120fps for slow motion but I'm looking forward to that. The suction cup does the job and I'm not going to spend more on a different one. The menu system is easier to use, however I hate that you have to press the button like 15 times just to adjust the date.

Even though I love playing with the camera it just doesn't produce the quality of images I can use. The lens distorts the image so it's (footage) use is limited to an accepting genre of applications i.e fun extreme sporting events, but placing the camera to get unusual POVs from other facets of life the distortion comes into play. The still images are not RAW, a major minus considering it's use as a time lapse camera for the ability of bringing in blown out detail.
Would of liked to seen a safety attachment loop and an easier interface menu system. Would of also liked to see a bigger movie resolution, applying any stabilization requires cropping the file. All in all a very fun camera but again only for a specific niche.

This camera is bad. You can not see what you are shooting and the sound quality is bad. It is hard to edit in any edit program. Don't buy this camera if you are a professional film maker.

I use my go pro cameras for everything. Scuba, Mountain biking, behind the scenes at video and photo shoots, etc. Use your imagination, you'll find a new use.
I live the new menu system, it easier to use and speeds up setup. Time lapse and video are my main uses. Once it's set up, it's is unobtrusive and everyone forgets it's there.

You only get medium and narrow view in 1080 setting - all other settings default to wide fisheye.

I was recently invited to a NASA social media event. As part of a "time lapse" of the entire 11 hour day on an airforce base, the camera took nearly 8,000 individual pictures.
I found that the backup battery pack, combined with a mini USB charger running whenever possible made this pretty easy.
The fact that the case does not have a "hole" for the USB plug is kind of stupid however. In the end, a 16Gig card, and a fist full of smaller cards, made the process manageable, and the quality of the pictures are/were amazing. We shot from a inprovised position inside the cockpit of an F/A-18, while nearly 40 people moved in/out of the aircraft for individual photos. The time lapse is still rendering, but a first review of images is amazing. (Gaffers tape and a single tie-wrap proved better than the suction cup mount, at keeping the camara out of view, of the official staff photographer. Frankly for the cost of *some* of the accesories, you can home bake your own. Some are simply *stupid* when compared with "real life" use, especially the mount/dismount process.
However *some* accessories are important, as the battery life is the most limiting factor on long duration events. A 16 or 32Gig card is *more* than enough for a 6.5 hour timelapse at 5 second intervals, at 11 MP per image. A "battery back" gives (about) 3 hours of run time in this mode, but not much more. Charging while using is extremely important if you are running the camera beyond this line.
I found the chest mount and helmet mounts to be cumbersome if not actually *irritating* while walking around the facility. In the end, Tape and a lanyard around my neck solved problems.

I primarily got the GoPro to shoot motorsports, but haven't had a chance to use it for that purpose yet. I have used it in a pool to shoot my dog swimming and the results turned out great. I also plan on using it to shoot time lapses.
The settings are much easier to set on the Hero2 and only requires some reference to the manual to know what each symbol stands for and some of the not so intuitive settings. But once is enough.
The quality of the video is great and the wide coverage is better than I expected. The quality of the waterproof case is solid as are the various mounts.
The only downside is that it doesn't come with an LCD built in, but that's the sacrifice for smaller size and longer battery life.

I have used other high def bullet proof "pocket cams" in the past but nothing like the Gopro Hero2. What makes it different. I'm still trying to figure it out. First off the 170 degree FOV makes it very useful in capturing almost any situation. If you need, just crop the image in post and adjust as necessary. I'm amazed at how smooth the video appears even when the camera is shaking around. I think that is what I like most about it. I can be running with the Gopro attached to a 5 foot monopod in the air and I still get usable video. It is very forgiving when it comes to movement. The mounts are well thought out and can accomplish almost any position and mount. I don't like that there is no included monitor on the back. Also using the HDMI to an external monitor is impossible with the case. Even if you want to use the camera without the case you lose all the mounting options. I know there is a backpack available and a wifi option coming out soon. This will obviously solve that problem. I have used the time laps feature and absolutely love it. Simple set-up- Just press shutter and walk away. I am still getting used to finding the best shooting options but am confident I will master it quickly. This will definately have a spot in my camera bag and travel with me often.

I've been waiting for too long for my HD Hero 2 upgrade. Finally, its in my hand. What more can I say, its much better than the previous HD Hero Original that I bought 2 years ago. Love every single thing about this camera and of course with better quality. Can't wait to use it on my newfound love in Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boarding next month in GA and NC. Gotta love GoPro!
