The ASUS 32GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Champagne) features an LED backlit capacitive display with 10-finger multi-touch support. The IPS display has WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution, viewing angles up to 178° and is protected by a layer of scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. There's 32GB of eMMC Flash storage and a 1GB DDR2 memory. The Prime runs an Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS, which is upgradeable to an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. For proper multitasking and smooth HD 1080p video output, ASUS equipped the 10.1" tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-Core Mobile Processor. The Transformer Prime also has an optional keyboard docking station (sold separately) that can be attached, providing access to a full QWERTY keyboard - transforming it from tablet to notebook.
For connectivity, the Transformer Prime features WLAN 802.11 b/g/n WiFi connectivity and Bluetooth V 2.1+EDR. It also has a micro HDMI port for viewing stored and Internet content on an HDTV in full 1080p HD with a 5.1 ch surround sound system. There are front and rear facing digital cameras as well. The built-in SRS Sound technology provides maximum bass response and a wide sound field from the stereo speakers integrated into the tablet. The 2-in-1 audio jack utilizes a single jack as a headphone output and microphone input. There is also a digital array mic integrated into the tablet.
The portability of the Prime is enhanced by its lightweight and 0.33" thickness. Plus, as you turn the tablet in your hand, the G-sensor automatically changes the screen from portrait to landscape orientation. The Transformer Prime also includes a gyroscope, ambient light sensor, E-compass and GPS sensor. The Li-polymer battery lasts up to 12 hours and the user interface facilitates quick access to the tablet's software suite for easier on-the-move computing. Plus, if you choose to purchase the optional ASUS Transformer Prime Keyboard Docking Station, the battery life will be extended to 18 hours and you'll have the ability to swiftly transform your tablet into a full-on notebook with a full QWERTY keyboard, touchpad, USB 2.0 port and additional memory card reader.

I have used the iOS platform since the iPhone first came out, but opted to give the Transformer Prime a shot as opposed to the iPad. I have not been disappointed. The Prime is quick, stable and loaded with features not found on the iPad. For example, along with the Prime, I also ordered a couple of 32 gb class 10 micro sd cards which double my storage capacity. The Transformer easily connects to an HDTV through the micro HDMI slot to enable a full screen browsing experience including sound! Speaking of sound, I have heard a few negative comments about the single speaker. For me, this single speaker was surprisingly loud and very adequate for browsing, etc. When listening to music or watching a movie, etc, I would always opt for my headphones anyway.
I also opted to get the keyboard. The detachable keyboard was a huge selling point and I have not been disappointed! This versatility enables me to leave pretty much only the heavy lifting for my laptop.
I have not experienced any issues with Wifi as some users have indicated. I travel frequently so utilize many and various Wifi situations with no problems. I have also connected my AT&T 3G wireless hotspot with great results.
I am tempted to the give iOS platform an edge in terms of the App Store, but then I think about all of the great apps that enable me to access all of my NAS drives giving me access to Terabytes of data, photos, videos, etc., and I realize that the App store and the iOS edge is probably only "skin deep".
For me, the Prime's only disappointment is the GPS capability. I knew this going in, but had hoped for better performance. I have registered for the new fix from Asus, so we will see what happens ... but I still have my Garmin in any case.
I have been very pleased with the purchase!

I travel often and purchased the prime for school, news and a little gaming. It shipped fast and arrived unblemished. It worked flawlessly for 4 whole days. It was everything I thought it was and more. Beautiful design and acceptable weight. Keyboard dock is a nice addition.
The GPS signal was poor as expected from other reviews. No problem with the WiFi. Worked fine 20' away from my wireless G router. Day 5 came along and I was playing a pinball game... placed the prime in the dock when finished and closed it. An hour later I picked it up and it was extremely hot. Nothing appeared on the screen. After further inspection, I could see a faint image. The backlight went out. So now I am dealing with support. With this product you have to ship to Asus for repair and they send it back. I don't want the same defective unit back but that is the only option.
I had to call support 3 times to get an RMA. The first two times the system was down but they didn't tell me until I explained the problem to them. They gave a case number and I called a 3rd time. I provided the case number but still had to explain the problem all over again. I asked if they had the info in the case notes and obviously they did not. I finally got the RMA but it was for a TF101 instead of a TF201. I asked if they provided the Asus Rapid replacement for this product and the rep said "Yes, just send it in and we will repair and send back". I asked again, "Do you offer the Rapid Replacement Program for this product where you ship a new one and I send the old one back?". He answered "Yes" again and repeated the same thing. The rep didn't understand a service that is listed on the support website. I gave up at that point. I shipped the product back and it arrived last Wednesday. The online status shows it was received 5 days after it was signed for. Now it is in "repair" status.
The product was great when it worked. The support is subpar and I recommend factoring that in when purchasing this product. The quality of support is relative to the priority a company has for their customers.

Comments about ASUS 32GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Champagne):
I love my Asus Transformer Prime. Coming from a Transformer TF101, I am no stranger to the Asus line of tablets tough, well built and very versatile. mind you before you start using this tablet ensure you charge for 7 to 8 hours. When you plug it in it may power on and go off, it is no cause for alarm just check that the LED light on the power button is on meaning it is charging. On powering on for the first time it was already loaded with delicious ICS on connecting to my wifi network my google backup was synced to my Prime. Hardware wise this baby is hot blazing processor, well machined body, built for toughness, great speakers, very good camera for a tablet. My wifi was a breeze to setup and it is working perfectly I have not bothered with the GPS cause I do not really need it. This is one of the best android device I have ever owned or used. I highly recommend this tablet. By the way buying from B&Hphotovideo was a wonderful experience delivery was promptly done.

After much research and comparison, I decided on the Asus Transformer Prime. I love that it can be a tablet or a netbook! Other uses have reported wifi disappointments, but I haven't had any problems with it at home or at work.
This was my first time to order anything from B&H, and the experience was great! Customer service was helpful and knowledgeable, and shipping was quick. I'd definitely order from them again!

Comments about ASUS 32GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Champagne):
I love this machine, it is fast and the display is beautiful. My company bought it for me to test digital versions of our magazine. Others are testing on ipad and kindle.
The big glitch is the internal GPS, which is so weak that it won't even pick up signals outside. But when I registered the unit at ASUS, that automatically resulted in an add-on external gps receiver being sent to me, which I have not yet seen.
The external GPS receiver attaches at the charger/USB port. That is fine, unless you also want to use the keyboard dock which attaches at the same point.
Really, ASUS should find a better fix for this.
Others have reported weak WiFi reception in previous versions, but I am not seeing that problem, so maybe it was fixed in this most recent batch.
Speaker volume was pretty low, but I fixed that by adding two free apps: Equalizer and Volume+ Free.
Comes with Android version Ice Cream Sandwich, which I like.

Everything was going fine until about the 4th day, doesn't even swtich on now. Already came installed with ICS and had only downloaded a few apps from the store.
Will give ASUS another chance by requesting an exchange. Web browsing was simple and didn't experience WiFi issues had some had commented.

I bought this for my wife who was looking for a faster and easier way to access the internet. It was a consumer reports best buy after the IPad. We have other apple products but this is our first tablet and we werent interested in more of the same. This tablet is really nice, very intuitive operation, especially considering we had never used android before, the screen is great, the cameras are good quality and the available apps have everything we need. The option of an added keyboard with extra battery life was a real selling point. Havent had any problems with the wifi like I read in some online reviews. Definitely strong competition for the IPad, especially at the price.

The Wi-FI on it is not very impressive. I have had to put extenders in the house just so we could get signal in some areas. The battery life is average. It is a good tablet with a nice picture for using on a daily basis.

Comments about ASUS 32GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Champagne):
I bought a table mainly because I am tired of my laptop's 2h autonomy. That upsets me when I want to couch surf and that it shuts down because the battery ran out.
So I went for this tablet. And for couch surfing this is the best. Super fluid, great screen and brightness (indoor, always on the lowest brightness).
But don't expect to write long emails or stuff like this on it, it is not its purpose.
But also very simple to use.
I really love this tablet!

great tablet, music, video and games are handled well.
The only thing is that when using it in normal mode battery lasts for about 4.5 hours if used heavly, thought it should last more.
When switching to powersave mode lasts longer but quality decreases..

I was worried about the wifi connectivity a little after some of the reviews that I read on the internet, but it has worked flawlessly for me. The screen is bright and I cannot imagine any faster a processor speed. The apps open and work very well and I can't say enough about the android market. Love this unit, but I wish the on/off switch was a little easier to manipulate.

I use the asus to browse the internet and thoroughly enjoy the fast loading of the pages. It is as quick as my laptop. The camera is awesome and takes very clear pictures. The battery lasts a long time too. My laptop needs to be plugged in pretty quick but not the asus! Love it! The only thing I don't like is that you get finger print smears bad on it. Thats why they make screen protectors!

Very nice tablet. Responsive with very good video. So far I have not had any WIFI connectivity issues. As soon as I got it I upgraded it to ICS, then added apps. No issues with any apps so far. I have not owned any tablets unless you consider a Kindle Fire a tablet so I really cannot compare it to any other tablets. Battery life seems very good but have it connected to the keyboard dock so it lasts all day. Have not used the camera and most likely will not as I have plenty of digital cameras. As of now, I am very happy with this tablet.
