This Ikelite 6184.82 Underwater Housing for Nikon Coolpix S8200 Camera is an injection-molded clear polycarbonate case, known for its strength and corrosion-free properties. It permits you to shoot underwater with your Nikon Coolpix S8200 digital camera. The housing features a depth rating of 200' (60 m). All camera functions are fully accessible via the mechanical controls. Two 12-24 threaded mounts on the bottom of the housing allow for the secure attachment of optional trays and lighting accessories. The housing comes with a 1cc tube of silicone lubricant, a flash diffuser, a flash deflector and a vinyl port cover.
The included flash diffuser improves lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used. A built-in flash is effective from 1.0 - 3.0' (0.3 - 0.9 m) away from your subject in clear conditions. To achieve the best results, an external underwater strobe is recommended. This will bring out the natural color of your subject and reduce the illumination of particles suspended in the water, known as backscatter. An optional Ikelite AutoFlash AF35 can provide additional light with easy automatic exposure. Also great for helping to restore natural color underwater are color correction filters. Effective in relatively shallow, sunny conditions, they replace some of the reds, oranges and more natural tones that would otherwise be lost underwater. The optional #6441.46 and #6441.86 filters are available for tropical blue water and green water, respectively (not included). For best results, use filters in combination with a manual white balance.
The housing has nearly neutral buoyancy in fresh water. It comes standard with a flat port. External wide-angle conversion lenses cannot be used to any advantage. For wide-angle work, the housing does accept the optional Ikelite WD-4 Wide-Angle Conversion Dome (not included). The dome corrects for the refractive magnification of the flat port underwater to restore the camera's original angle of coverage. It may be removed and replaced underwater and requires no modification to the housing's standard port. You may also use the optional Macro Adapter #9306.82, for attaching 67 mm threaded macro lenses from Inon and Epoque. This adapter, too, may be removed and replaced underwater and requires no modification to the housing's standard port.
The housing allows for the attachment of a video light to further enhance your underwater imaging. The Pro-V8 is perfect for close-up work and focus assistance. For the serious shooter, Ikelite recommends the powerful PRO-2800 LED for maximum output and versatility. The optional tray with release handle(s) is required for attachment (not included).
