The feature-packed JVC GZ-V500 Full HD Everio Camcorder (Black) shoots Full HD 1920 x 1080 video and can output 1080/60p video as well. It uses memory card technology to store your recordings and features an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot. The GZ-V500 has a back-illuminated 1/4.1" 3.3MP CMOS image sensor, a mini HDMI output and a JVC HD lens. The high-quality HD lens supports 10x optical zoom, 18x dynamic zoom and 200x digital zoom in both HD and SD formats. The camcorder has a FALCONBRID engine and a 3.0" LCD touch panel display for easy recording and instant playback. It also supports high-speed video and continuous still recording. Plus, you can use it as a 10 megapixel digital camera with the DSC function.
The GZ-V500 also features several other user-friendly shooting controls and options. It's equipped with an Optical and Advanced Image Stabilizer, as well as Super LoLux. It features Intelligent AUTO and Auto REC. Plus, it supports Time-Lapse REC as well. The GZ-V500 has Face Detection technology, K2 technology, Smile Meter / Smile Shot, Pet Detection / Pet Shot, Face Sub-Window, Animation Effect and Silent Mode. It also has an integrated zoom microphone and a semi-auto lens cover. With attributes like this, anyone can become a master videographer.
While all these handy tools may take some of the guesswork out of recording, it's always nice to have some easy-to-use editing software back at the house. The GZ-V500 comes with Everio MediaBrowser 4 software integrated into the camcorder. The PC software allows you to upload your videos quickly, select your favorite scenes and make them even more attractive. If you get done with a recording and can't wait to share it with friends and family, the GZ-V500's integrated mini HDMI output makes it possible to connect the camcorder directly to your HDTV. Once connected, you can share all your video clips on the big screen in breathtaking 1080/60p HD.

- Touch Panel LCD
- Just touch on the various function icons and thumbnail pictures that are displayed on the LCD screen. The uniformly flat surface responds instantly to your touch commands, with a frameless design to assure comfortable touch access even for functions displayed on the extreme right or left
- Face Recognition for Shooting Convenience
- Face Recognition technology allows you to register faces of friends and family with their names so the camera can optimize exposure and focus giving priority to them
- Smile Meter & Smile Shot
- The Smile Meter keeps an eye on how much your subjects are smiling, giving you a percentage display. With Smile Shot, the camera automatically takes a picture (in video mode) every time the smile percentage reaches a certain level. It's a great way to take group shots filled with smiling faces
- Pet Detection
- Pet Detection function detects and tracks the faces of dogs and cats, capturing them with the best setting possible. And it automatically takes stills when they face the camera directly
- Face Sub-Window
- Touch on a face on the LCD screen, and that face is automatically shown enlarged in a corner of the screen. So you can record both a group shot and a close-up of someone at the same time
- Animation Effect
- Have fun decorating while you shoot. Add stamps wherever you touch. Or spice up faces with decorations that automatically position themselves correctly. You can even add hand-written titles and captions using a provided pen as part of the recording too
- Time-Lapse REC
- Time-Lapse REC records one frame at a time at set intervals (1 sec - 80 sec), so you can watch movement that's hours long in just a few seconds when played back. It's great when you want to observe an event that takes place over a long period of time or to record unique-looking scenes in a creative way
- Auto REC
- When a subject enters the detecting area, recording starts automatically. Recording continues as long as there is movement within the area and automatically stops after 5 seconds of no movement. You can use it like a surveillance camera or to observe something
- JVC HD Lens
- The JVC HD Lens is approximately two times brighter and faster than conventional camera lenses. You'll be able to record in low light environments with confidence. Record indoors or outside in darker situations with brilliant results. Record birthdays, weddings, sporting events and everyday life without the need for additional lighting
- Wide Angle Lens
- When recording landscapes, or group shots in cramped quarters, this wide angle lens is very effective. When fully zoomed out, the angle of vision is equivalent to a 32.8 mm lens on a 35mm SLR camera
