The 16TB (4 x 4TB) Mercury Elite Pro Enterprise RAID Solution Kit
is a package consisting of a Mercury Elite Pro Qx2 Quad Interface 4-Bay RAID Solution and four 4TB 3.5" SATA Internal Hard Disk Drives.
The Mercury Elite Pro offers a convenient enclosure, which affords installation of your own set of four matched 3.5" Serial ATA (SATA I/II) hard disk drives into a stylish RAID enclosure that supports data transfers up to 3.0 Gb/s. The Qx2 is equipped with a custom Oxford 936 Chipset that's compatible with eSATA, FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 / 1.1 connectivity.
The single eSATA port offers the fastest data transfer rates, up to 3.0 Gb/s or 300 MB/s. The dual 9-pin FireWire 800 ports facilitate 800 Mbps or 100 MB/s transfer rates, while the 6-pin FireWire 400 interface supports transfer rates up to 400 Mbps or 50 MB/s. The USB 2.0 port, which is also backwards compatible with USB 1.1, supports up to 480 Mbps or 60 MB/s transfer rates, as well as 12 Mbps or 1.5 MB/s USB 1.1 transfer rates. All supported interface connector cables are included.
The Qx2 enables easy configuration of Redundant Array of Independent Disks, or RAID. NRAID, RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10 are all supported. NRAID (Span) combines the capacities of 2 or more drives of equal size into 1 volume, and combines drives of varying sizes based on the lowest capacity in the set. RAID 0 (Stripe) splits data into blocks over 2 or more drives at a time for high-speed and high capacity. RAID 1 (Mirror) enables data to be written simultaneously to 2 drives for the highest level of data safety and redundancy. RAID 5 (Stripe with Parity) is similar to RAID 0; data is striped while incorporating redundancy over 3 or more drives for the best combination of speed, capacity and redundancy. Like other quad-interface, 4-bay RAID solutions, the Qx2 is pre-configured as RAID 5. RAID 10 ensures that data is striped over 2 mirrored sets of drives for fast redundancy. The enclosure is Windows and Mac compatible. It includes all required interface connector cables.
