Designed for TV and HDTV systems in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and South America - the Sony 32GB HDR-CX740VE High Definition Flash Memory Camcorder (PAL) can record up to 12 hours of HD video footage. It supports 1920 x 1080p Full HD video recording at 50 or 25 frames per second (fps), as well as 24.1 megapixel still image capture. The HDR-CX740VE features a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor that's ideal for low-light situations. Plus, it features a 26mm wide angle Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens that supports 10x optical zoom and 17x extended zoom. There's also a 0.27" electronic viewfinder and a 3" Xtra Fine LCD touch screen display for easy recording and instant playback.
The HDR-CX740VE comes outfitted with several video enhancing features. It has Golf Shot, Face Detection, CinemaTone presets and 25p recording for cinematic quality video. There's also a Tracking Focus function that follows selected subjects as you record. The microphone features 5.1 channel surround sound for dynamic and vivid surround audio and there's a wind noise reduction function that provides clear voice recording. The HDR-CX740VE even features Geotagging with a built-in GPS receiver and NAVTEQ maps. For professional shooting, the camcorder is equipped with a built-in flash, headphone jack for monitoring and a microphone jack for using external mics. The camcorder features Clear Phase stereo speakers as well.
Sony also added a few playback and connection conveniences. The HDR-CX740VE supports Event Browse, which groups videos and stills by each particular recording session automatically. It also has a Highlight Playback function that creates movies with transitions and soundtracks for you automatically. With the HDR-CX740VE, you can use the Direct Copy feature to transfer your HD footage directly to a hard drive without even using a PC. However, if you do want to upload videos onto Facebook and YouTube, the camcorder comes with a built-in USB cable, as well as editing and application software.
