TP-Link TL-WDR3600 Overview

With the increased demand put on our Wi-Fi networks, the TL-WDR3600 N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router from TP-Link comes equipped to meet all of your wireless networking needs. This high tech router comes with the ability to broadcast and receive both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections simultaneously at 300Mbps. Along with dual band wireless, the WDR3600 comes outfitted with two USB ports giving you the ability to plug in a wide variety of devices directly into the router making them available throughout the network.

The ability to allow for simultaneous connections makes this router stand out among similar routers. With dual band connectivity you can run specific devices that require less bandwidth on the 2.4GHz frequency as this frequency is often times more congested, making it less efficient for higher bandwidth applications. The 5.0GHz frequency can then be left to applications and devices requiring faster, larger amounts of bandwidth such as HD video streaming, streaming music, and transferring of large files. This allows the entire network to work more efficiently, as network traffic can be allocated to specific frequencies.

The integrated USB ports found on the back of the router make the WDR3600 a multimedia hub. Simply connect your hard drive or multimedia hub directly into one of the router's USB ports, and make all of your media available throughout the network. The built-in media server makes sharing your music, video, and photos with devices such as Windows Media Player, PS3, or X-Box 360 a breeze. The WDR3600 is also equipped with print server capabilities, allowing for wireless printing from different computers throughout the network.

Once configured, your router becomes a gateway to all of your media and a window to the World Wide Web. As this is the case, you must secure your network to be sure your sensitive data remains safe. To do this, you can take advantage of a variety of security features found on the WDR3600. Initially, you can utilize the Wi-Fi protected setup option found on the back of the router by pressing the WPS button. This encrypts your network with a WPA2 secure connection giving you piece of mind that your data is safe. You can also choose from a variety of encryption standards including 64/128-bit WEP, WPA / WPA2, WPA-PSK/ WPA2-PSK encryption protocols. Along with the variety of encryption standards you can also implement IP QoS (quality of service) standards allowing you to limit the amount of bandwidth users on your network are allotted, thus keeping the network from becoming too congested.

Incredible Bandwidth
The N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router has the ability to run two frequencies simultaneously, allowing for a total of 600Mbps bandwidth. The N600 runs on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectrums, allowing for the expanded bandwidth. This allows you to run everyday applications on the often times more congested and sometimes slower 2.4GHz frequency. The 5GHz frequency can then be dedicated to running the more data sensitive applications such as video streaming, and transferring of large files throughout the network.
Dual USB Connectivity
With two integrated USB ports located on the back of this versatile router you can take your networking to the next level. Not only can you simply route your Internet connection throughout your home, you can now plug in a variety of USB devices such as printers, and media hubs. The USB connectivity allows you to stream your movies, music, and view pictures both locally and over the internet to friends and family. The N600's built in print server allows for wireless printing from computers throughout the network.
Full Gigabit Speeds
The four gigabit ports located on the back of the N600 allow for maximum data speeds. You can even achieve WAN to LAN throughput speeds of over 800Mbps with NAT (network address translation) hardware.
Easy Secure Setup
Keep your network performing at optimal speeds with QoS (quality of service) effectively allowing you to control the bandwidth being used by applications throughout the network. Along with QoS functionality, you can take advantage of Wi-Fi protected setup giving you one button security. With Wi-Fi protected security you can automatically establish a WPA2 secure connection providing improved security over the traditional WEP encryption standards.
