The powered hub is fine for portable hard drives and they work well. A non powered hub would cut out and disrupt data flow. The right angle power plug was not needed and gets in the way.

I bought this and expected I could Rapid Charge my Google Pixel 2, however it does not work for that. Otherwise the hub works as expected and being powered it is convenient for charging if PC if off.

Thank you Moe, but Transcends claim of compatibility with 10.2.8 or later were advanced before Monterey was introduced. Absent confirmation from Transcend about compatibility with Monterey, has anyone found confirmation of compatibility with Monterey?

If I plug this into a USB 2.0 port on laptop, will it safely provide full required power to a USB 3.0 device using the AC adapter, while still allowing the device to communicate/sync/etc (at USB 2.0 speed) with the laptop?

Yes. The hub will work just fine with your USB 2.0 notebook and USB 3.0 device. There also would not be any issue with the power.

I just got an replacement because the first one came with the power adaptor with no prong. Now the replacement is the same way. Now I will have to order a power adaptor off of ebay. smh

I can't see how you'd charge a laptop with usb at all. But it certainly does charge most regular usb chargeable devices like iPhones and iPads.

Yes, but not with full functionality. For instance, it will power a keyboard and mouse but not an external storage drive. It works great on AC power no matter what is plugged in but you will get limited function from USB power.
