Photography is all about being in the right place at the right time, with the right equipment. On this day I was lucky enough to be at beautiful Mokoli'i on a windless day in October. This island sits about 1/2 a mile off the coast, too far to safely fly in subpar conditions. Not only was the date perfect, but by the time I had framed my shot, a halo of clouds had arranged itself between the island and the sun in a manner that gave a natural vignette effect to my subject. Nature had done it's part. All I had to do was show up and click the shutter. If only it were always this easy.
