Think Tank Mover Series Bags: Made-to-Measure Fit for your Mirrorless Kit

3Share

Buying a compact mirrorless camera is one thing. Finding the right bag in which to carry it is another. The Mirrorless Mover series from Think Tank Photo has created just that—intelligently designed and easily accessible camera bags that provide a made-to-measure fit for your mirrorless kit.

Durable and water resistant, these Mirrorless Movers feature a magnetic flip-top lid, which covers a zippered closure that secures the main compartment. For extra protection during inclement weather, a seam-sealed rain cover is always included. Available in either Black with Charcoal or Black with Heather Gray, the bags feature four different sizes, including the 5, the 10, the 20, and the 30i.

Carry around the strict essentials with the Mirrorless Mover 5, which features just enough room for your mirrorless camera and a small, attached lens along with your smartphone, which is separated by a divider. The Mirrorless Mover 10 adds space for an extra lens, but still leaves room for your smartphone by creating an internal slot within the padded divider, protecting it from both sides. For storing your camera with three lenses, the Mirrorless Mover 20 does the job and also fits your smartphone inside one of the dividers. If you have a compact camera with up to four lenses, or even a small DSLR with up to three lenses, but also want to take your iPad or tablet, then the Mirrorless Mover 30i is for you. No matter how many lenses you have, you will find an ideal-sized bag in this made-for-mirrorless collection.

Not just ergonomic, each compact bag is accessory friendly too. A clear touch-fastened interior lid pocket complements an exterior front zippered accessory pouch on every bag. That way, your memory cards, batteries, lens caps, and cleaning solution do not need to be left behind. For quick-access items, two stretchable side pockets hold even more accessories.

There are three ways to carry these versatile bags: a removable shoulder strap if you are going for a long trek through the city, a top grip handle for quickly grabbing it, or on a belt, by utilizing the rear belt slot—great for when you already have another backpack or travel bag on your shoulders.

The main reason you bought your mirrorless camera was because of its compact size. This makes it important to find a bag that matches the size of your kit. No matter how much gear you need to hold, the Mirrorless Movers from Think Tank provide just the right amount of space.

Yulia,

Well written, this Mirrorless Mover bag seems useful for so many camera kits.

Thanks for the information.

Hey Russ,

Chris here from Think Tank and I'm sorry to hear that you had such a tough time working with the MM10. It's actually one of our best selling bags as I'm sure why B&H is so excited about the new 2nd colorway that we just released.

We designed the dual closure system so that you could easily (and silently) get into the bag while it was on your shoulder. We use neodymium magnets (some of the strongest on the market) but any magnet is never a good idea for a secure closure and that's why we included high quality YKK zips (on all closures). As you mentioned, this method of dual closure will begin to train you to pick up the bag by the shoulder strap, just incase you didn't zip the zips ;)

Regarding the interior pocket, it is really designed for cables, lens caps, batteries, etc. We included 2 dedicated SD card slots in the specially designed divider and the zippered front pocket is another secure location for your cards.

Silent magnetic flap was the big draw but I had to return Mirrorless Mover 10.

Pick up the bag via the grasp handle and the magnets give way. The flap opens easily spilling your camera onto the ground. This could have been remedied with a stronger magnet(s).If you ALWAYS REMEMBER  to zip the closure there is no problem, but that makes the bag a bit slow to access. I found it a problem in practice. I called ThinkTank to see if I could purchase a modification for the weak flap closure. They were very friendly but said unable to provide that service.  They said nobody had ever complained about the weak flap closure and that perhaps I could substitute rare earth, i.e.stronger, magnets. That would entail taking the bag to bits to change out the sewn in magnets. I declined.

Further the chip pocket on the inside of the main flap has no secure closure and the chips fly out if you close the flap briskly. This could be simply remedied by a slightly longer bit of Velcro or the inclusion of a tiny flap. This is a decently made bag with an innovative attractive, but disappointing, magnetic closure. However it feels as if the design was not thoroughly considered before going into production. The two tone( charcoal and black) treatment may look good in the store but to my taste attracts too much attention in the field.

I would wait for the next generation of this bag in the hopes that these issues are addressed.
