An impressive wide-angle lens distinguished more by its speed than its field of view, the Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM is a particularly fast prime that excels in difficult lighting conditions. Despite its wide field of view, the f/1.4 design still affords depth-of-field control, which is backed by an 11-blade diaphragm and physical aperture ring for tactile control. This 24mm is a G Master lens, as well, and uses specialized elements and a Nano AR coating to achieve high sharpness, accurate colors, and striking contrast. A Direct Drive SSM promotes fast autofocus performance, and the lens is also weather sealed.
Applications: Wide-angle lenses are commonly associated with landscape, architecture, interior, and street applications, but the 24mm focal length straddles the border between general wide-angle and ultra-wide, making it a nice choice for unique portraits or documentary subjects, too. And its f/1.4 design is perfect for low-light shooting and astrophotography uses.
