While we generally recommend getting closer to the subject and using a dual-system solution to avoid recording the camera's noisy preamps, in many one-shooter, run-and-gun situations, that's not always possible. This video is designed to give you an idea of what some of these microphones sound like in such situations. We begin by listening to the poor audio recorded from the built-in mic on a DSLR, followed by examples of how six camera-mountable microphones sound, individually. The featured microphones include:
