DJI Releases the Mini 4 Pro with Omnidirectional Vision, Longer Range

Major improvements to safety and range are at the core of DJI’s latest announcement: the Mini 4 Pro. Compared to the Mini 3 Pro, the new entry in the Mini series uses OcuSync 4 for up to 12.4 miles of transmission range, and the tri-directional obstacle avoidance is updated to an omnidirectional design, providing complete protection. When it comes to imaging, the Mini 4 Pro’s camera now offers up to 4K100 resolution support for 4K slow motion. Essential features remain, such as its registration-friendly weight, true vertical shooting, and automatic flight modes that let beginners and pros alike achieve cinematic results.

The biggest improvement of the Mini 4 Pro is the switch from tri-directional to omnidirectional obstacle avoidance. Using six fisheye sensors, downward binocular sensors, a 3D ToF sensor, and downward auxiliary light, the Mini 4 Pro can now identify and avoid objects on all sides. Coupled with an improved 12.4-mile transmission range, it becomes easier to fly in congested urban areas. It also enhances the advanced return to home feature and works with APAS to ensure smooth recording when using one of the built-in intelligent flight modes.

These flight modes allow beginners to achieve more professional-looking results, and for professionals to capture certain shots more easily, so they can spend more time on other aspects of aerial filmmaking. The Mini 4 Pro supports FocusTrack, MasterShots, Hyperlapse, Panorama, and QuickShots, all able to fly intricate maneuvers automatically at a moment’s notice. New for the Mini 4 Pro is ActiveTrack’s Trace Mode and its ability to follow specific flight routes, compared to the previous generation's fixed directional tracking.

True vertical shooting and a lightweight, portable design are additional welcome continuing features in the Mini 4 Pro. Like its predecessor, the Mini 4 Pro can fold to a compact size and weighs less than 8.8 oz. This lets users fly the drone without the need for registration in many countries, including the U.S. The impromptu nature of flying the Mini 4 Pro works well with the gimbal’s ability to rotate for vertical shooting, so pilots can record footage in a format that’s immediately ready for posting on social media platforms.

The Mini 4 Pro continues to elevate the DJI Mini series by adding features that are normally found on more advanced models, making it a great value for consumers. It’s being released in four different configurations along with essential optional accessories. There is the Mini 4 Pro drone by itself, bundled with the DJI RC 2 remote, Fly More Combo and RC 2 remote, and a Fly More Combo Plus with RC 2 remote. Accessories include a standard intelligent flight battery, 3-pack of ND filters, wide-angle lens, and 360-degree propeller guards.
