Whether you need a wireless system for monitoring, focus pulling, recording, or a combination of the three, the Pyro 7 Ultra should check your boxes. Expect Delta E < 1.5 color accuracy, 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and 1500 nits of brightness for easier outdoor viewing. So what is QD-LCD? It channels blue LED light directly into Hollyland’s proprietary formula of Quantum Dot Enhancement Film (QDEF), creating narrow-band red and green for a more accurate RGB spectrum.
Hollyland’s proprietary TWiFi dual-band transmission technology creates a synced up “twin-path” across 2.4 and 5 GHz spectrums, which allows for automatic frequency hopping, that massive 3300’ range, super low latency, and sharp 4K60p transmission. It’s also what allows the Ultra to transmit to a nearly unlimited number of receivers when in transmitter mode. There’s streamlined pairing with the rest of the Pyro line, plus compatibility for the Tilta Nucleus-M II wireless lens control system. Like with the standard Pyro 7, proxy video recording and playback is possible via the SD card slot.
The Pyro 7 Ultra has all the exposure, framing, and focus monitoring tools you’d expect, including Waveforms, False Color, Anamorphic Desqueeze, Focus Peaking, and more. It also has camera control features for a variety of brands and models. The HollyOS smartphone and tablet app is compatible with the Ultra for viewing and control. Users can pair the Ultra with a Hollyland Color Calibrator accessory for a PC-free three minute fine tuning, through the monitor is Calman calibrated in the factory.
When in Broadcast mode, the Pyro 7 Ultra can transmit images to twenty receivers but not HollyOS, while Non-Broadcast mode can send video to four receivers and two apps. Smooth mode has lower latency transmission but is limited to 1080p, while Focus mode reduces latency when the Ultra is functioning as a receiver. Additional pro-level features include HDMI/SDI cross-conversion and an integrated V-mount battery plate. Antennas, a screen protector, and a DC barrel to D-Tap cable are included.
