Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
This bag is exactly what I was looking for. It carries easily Nikon d300, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 VR, Sigma 10-20, Nikon 70-300 VR, filters, flash SB600 and many odds and ends. I should have bought it long before today. Very well made and solid built.

Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I bought this bag for travel and field trip use. I would classify myself as a serious amateur. The front buckels which hold the top cover seem like an overkill. I would prefer something that was a bit more quick detachable, but still overall a very good bag.

Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I just love this bag! I had a Lowepro bag before this, and while it was well-made, it was just too overbuilt and heavy all by itself. This bag is lightweight, the insert is adjustable (or removable) and you can wash the bag if you remove the inserts and bottom. Plus, it's made in the USA and doesn't scream camera bag. The shoulder strap has rubberized material running through it and grips your shoulder exceptionally well, and the bag doesn't have a ton of velcro, so it's quiet to open and close, which is a HUGE plus!

Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I have owned several camera bags, none that has worked for me. I was always having to leave something behind, nothing packed in an orgainized way. My husband fussed when we would be on vacation saying I am always "fumbling" around for something. Well, the joke is on him. Now, I can access my equipment without asking him to hold something while I try to dig for whatever it is I'm looking for. Finally, a bag that holds all of my gear, and lets me access it at the same time. Our next vacation will be much more pleasant for everyone now. The pockets are great, the zipper on the inside flat is so convenient. Being made of canvas makes this bag the most durable of any I have seen. No one will regret purchasing this bag. I know I'm not. I may even order a smaller one to carry as a purse with my point & shoot.

Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I have owned four Domke Bags to carry and transport different camera systems. This bag is a great size to carry a Nikon D300, 80-200 2.8, 35 1.8, flash, mini tripod, cords, charger, and the list could go on and on. I have two smaller Domke bags but needed something a little larger the F-2 was it. My first bag has been passed down and is still in use by my son. It is well over 10 years old. Very nice and made in the USA.

Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
The bag is great. It feels really tough, like I could take my expensive gear through any conditions and it would still come out on the other side with no problems. A lot of people have written complaints about the metal buckles, but I like their classic look and functionality: use them when traveling, but while filming/shooting, keep them unlatched, and the Velcro will do it's job just fine. The bottom padding seems really strong as well. Only downside: the bag looks so cool that it makes me look less cool!

Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I've wanted a Domke F-2 bag for quite a while, but have been making do with other bags and backpacks, but recently I finally bought one. It has definitely lived up to my expectations, allowing me to pack everything I need and easily get to it when needed. Rugged with good cushioning for lenses. One downside, when I want to take along my 200-500 zoom I need to do a redesign of the interior and leave one or 2 other lenses out. Other than that, it can hold so much gear that you might be tempted to put too much in there risking shoulder fatigue. Get the divider and shoulder pad, especially if you carry lots of lenses. A minor annoyance is having to buckle/unbuckle two clasps to get access, but two clasps do provide better security, so I can live with it.

Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I bought my F-2 30 years ago directly from Jim Domke, and it has been in constant service ever since. It has stains, it smells of spilled beer. It's been used as a pillow, a footrest, a weapon, and a camera bag. Best of all, it doesn't scream "steal me".
After 1.5 million miles and 30 years I had to replace the strap. Oh, the horror...
Inside are 2 Nikons with attached lenses, 2 strobes, extra batteries, CF cards, notebooks and pens, passport and tickets, extra glasses, a flourescent highway vest, etc.
My F2 was once accidentally hit with water from a 3" line at a fire. The stream pushed the bag and contents about 30 feet. The bag got wet. NOTHING was broken.
Keep the strap long enough to ride your hip. It's comfortable, and you can easily flip to a quasi-backpack mode in about 5 seconds.

Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I'm new to photography so you can imagine how overwhelmed I was with accessories to best compliment my Nikon D90 purchase.
I had brought a couple Lowepro bags to store all my photography equipment when traveling. I ended up returning most of them because they just weren't practical. I had backpacks that were too big and shoulder bags that were too bulky.
So, when someone on a photography discussion forum brought up Domke and its history of being a staple of photojournalists for almost 30 years I decided to purchase the F-2 shoulder bag.
I was a bit concerned about its size. I needed to fit a Nikon D90 with 18-55mm lens attached as well as a 70-300 telephoto lens, Sony Camcorder, speedlight and diffuser and assorted batteries. My original choice was the Domke F-6 (A little bit bigger bag), but in the end I was happy with the decision I made.
The F-2, as small as it may seem, fit all my equipment securely inside. In addition, I was able to throw a Rocket blower in one of the pockets, some small batteries and SDHC cards and still have room for goodies in the side pockets.
The only two downsides is that the bag gets very heavy on the shoulders once filled. I am going to eventually purchase the padding for the shoulder strap as I hear it helps immensely. Also, as everyone else has noted, there could have been more velcro across the front. The small strip just doesn't really cut it.
...and actually, a third downside. It's not a well padded bag. However, I did cover a crowded trade show recently and had no worries that I wasn't keeping my gear properly protected.
The downsides outweigh the positives. This is one sharp looking bag which makes you look more fashionable than someone lugging around photography equipment. I would not hesitate to recommend making this bag your first choice in carrying your equipment.

I love this bag!! I had Lowepro bags before this one that I still use, but I love the domke bag because it doesn't look like a typical camera bag (I mean, who designs most bags? They look so dorky!) It is really well thought out, without being overly bulky. It has really well thought out places for cards, papers, and a removable padded area and bottom in case it needs washing. Plus, I really like that it has clips instead of big velcro patches or zippers- when you're shooting a quiet event, ripping open a velcro'd or zippered bag is really loud, especially at a pivotal moment! The shoulder strap is great- the gripper material really holds in place, better than the overbuilt strap on my Lowepro Stealth reporter bag.

Comments about Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):
I thought all these reviews about how the bag conformed to your waist, how it does not create a hot spot where the bags rides, how easily it is to access your gear was a bit too much hype. Well I must say I am eating crow on this one. 1 hour into toting this bag, and I knew my "journey" has ended. I carried all my gear, including my Nikon VR 70-200 2.8, yes the top is somewhat exposed, but I find it o.k. because of the cover is soft, all is well. My D 70 with mounted 35mm F2, and storing my 60mm 2.8 D, 50mm 1.8 D, and 20mm 2.8 D, SB 800, and all the filters, batteries, plus my FG20 film body, and a few rolls of film fit just fine. A tad heavy at this point, not all needs to be carried but nice to know it can be if needed. The bag has seen only sunshine, well see how it is when raining, I feel it will be fine since I wear canvas coats and know how they react to inclement weather.
