The Rycote Mini Windjammer is a lined slip-on fur cover designed for use with the Sony PCM D50 digital recorder. It has a windshield rating of medium that provides 30-40dB reduction from the effects of high-wind gust noise and vocal plosives.
The Mini Windjammer can be used over a foam windscreen or on its own. A touch-fastener strap secures the windjammer in place.

Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Sony PCM D50:
I ordered both a used Sony pcm-d50 and the Rycote mini wind jammer at the same time and I have only the wind jammer because my used d50 was out of stock. I can only go by looks. This cover looks quality. The construction, and density of the fibers look sufficient to quash the wind noise, this is definitely necessary for out door wind recording. --I am wondering if it will dampen the recording too much? For now that is all.

Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Sony PCM D50:
Best wind cover you can get for your d50. Nothing beats it. Like another reviewer said, you get what you pay for and that is a high quality windjammer from the highest quality company out there.
Other reviewers stated that they have a hard time fitting the cover on the d50. I experienced nothing of the sort. It was easy to get on and off without any issue.
Highly recommend.

Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Sony PCM D50:
Not bad at first however the fibers have a tendency to fall off easily, especially when putting it on the PCM D-50. Once on it works well, this is a classic case of you get what you pay for.

Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Sony PCM D50:
I bought this windscreen to see how it compares to the Sony-issue one that you can get for the D50, and Rycote didn't let me down.
With the Sony screen, it was still relatively easy to bottom out the mic capsules with even a light wind, but the Rycote does a much better job of shielding them, even when directly blowing on the mics in a test. Not perfect, but the protection is better.
The diffusing hair is finer and longer than the Sony and displaces wind more evenly, similar to their larger windcsreens, with a tightly-woven mesh that fits snugly over the D50's mic cage bars.
I highly recommend this windscreen if you're considering which one to get.
Now if only you could fit the unit into the nice hard Sony case with the screen on - that would have been nice.

Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Sony PCM D50:
I use this on my Sony PCM D50
It's pretty necessary for outdoor use but unfortunately doesn't fit very well and takes a while to stretch on which can be a pain if you want to make a hasty recording. Also if not fitted properly it has a tendency to fall off.
It provides adequate wind protection for clean recordings, but has a tendency to fray and drop hairs which could get stuck in the moving parts of the recorder.
