Quantum Instruments Qflash T5D-R TTL Flash w/ Turbo 3 Rechargeable Battery Kit

I purchased this kit after reviewing both the flash as well as the battery. I had previously rented a QFlash T2 + Old model Turbo battery from a local rental shop. While I absolutely loved the light output, the reliability of the flash was a [*] - NOT GOOD! Even though the battery power LEDs indicated a full charge, I wasn't getting reliable pops at 1/4 power.After hours of research on the web, I discovered that the older Turbo batteries become unreliable after they've been used for some time (1 to 2 years), and many recommended the newer Turbo 3.So far this kit has been wonderful. Recycle time beats the heck out of my Speedlights at 1/4 to full power, the quality of light is better and more consistent, and it's a more professional looking system. I've triggered the flash with Pocket Wizards (Plus II), QNexus TTL adapter, and via cable, all methods have been very reliable.Cons:Light modifiers are pretty limited. Best bang for the buck mods are the diffuser that comes with the kit, umbrellas, and the 19" Normal Octagonal Softbox.If you wish to use larger softboxes, beauty dishes, etc, then you have to get a little more creative. The good news is that other makers of light modifiers, such as Photoflex, make Speed rings for Lumedyne strobes that also fit this light. Just be careful not to use mods that are too large as they may stress the mount.The other con is that after 11 months of use, my charger stopped working, and I baby my equipment, so that was strange. Quantum did quickly replace it with a charger that seems to be better built and my battery is fully charged once again. Thanks Quantum!This light, while extremely versatile, may not be as powerful as you might expect given the appearance and cost. I would put the power output as that of two of my SB900's. However, it do find that the recycle time, reliability, durability, and the consistent color temperature of the light is worth the expense. This flash can take a lot more stress than speedlights, but don't expect to be able to overpower the sun in full daylight unless you're willing to shoot without a diffuser and don't mind getting the light close.
