The Sennheiser ME66 short shotgun microphone is a popular choice among video, film and ENG / EFP professionals. The capsule features a highly directional, cardioid polar pattern yielding great attenuation at the sides of the microphone while maximizing pick up at the front. The result is a focused pick-up in highly ambient environments. A wide 40-20,000Hz frequency response provides detailed, accurate signal reproduction. This version uses the K6P power supply which is capable of phantom power only. The absence of a battery compartment on the K6P, makes for a much more compact microphone, convenient for mounting to smaller cameras. The ME66 is at home in event videography, ENG / EFP use, video depositions, corporate media applications and film.

Comments about Sennheiser ME66/K6P - Super-Cardioid Mic Capsule with K6P:

I use this for shooting documentaries and it works great for interviews. I have good results even in loud ambient situations.
On the downside:
It does come with a price-tag but worth it.
It's fairly long so mount it correctly. I've had to use electrical tape to keep it in place. Be careful at wide angle so it doesn't end up in shot.
Uses phantom power so if your camera or audio capture device has phantom great! Other wise you need a AA battery. The battery light is kinda hard to see so when I've used a battery I always had an earpiece in to make sure it was working. Also has on/off for battery you must remember to turn on.
Downside are not really bad but just a few tips I recommend with an otherwise good investment.
I've traveled in wet jungles and very cold weather and mic has held up nicely.
Also recommend getting the windscreen.
Hope this helps.
