Intel® is taking content creation, gaming, and other high-end computing tasks to new dimensions with the launch of its 12th Generation Core™ i5, Core™ i7, and Core™ i9 desktop processors. Designed to usher in a new age of computing, these are the first Intel® processors that make use of Alder Lake hybrid architecture, which combines the power of Efficient-cores and Performance-cores to handle virtually any computing task. Low-voltage Efficient-cores efficiently multitask background tasks while the Performance-cores are designed to push the limits of computing with reduced latency and significantly improved general purpose performance. According to Intel’s testing, the Performance-Core™ architecture improves performance by up to 19% compared to the 11th Gen processors at the same frequency. The two Core™ types are brought together by the integrated Intel® Thread Director™, which ensures that Efficient- and Performance-cores work seamlessly together by dynamically and intelligently assigning workloads to the right core.
Other advances include support for both DDR5-4800 and DDR4-3200 dual-channel memory, in addition to 16 lanes of PCIe 5.0 bandwidth and four lanes of PCIe 4.0 bandwidth, for a total of 20 lanes. Available with or without integrated Intel® UHD 770 Graphics, these processors cover a broad range of uses. For instance, the 3.7 GHz Core™ i5 can efficiently take on most everyday tasks, such as working on large documents and editing photos and short videos for social media. The 3.6 GHz Core™ i7 kicks the performance up several notches for enthusiasts to play high-end games and create professional-grade content. Lastly, the 3.2 GHz Core™ i9 CPUs deliver top-of-the-line performance for exceptionally heavy workloads and computing tasks, such as big data analysis and artificial intelligence. All these processor models are unlocked for overclocking, allowing you to boost their performance even further after installing them on an Intel® LGA 1700 socket motherboard.
With their efficient hybrid Core™ design, 12th Generation Intel® processors are moving computing performance to an all-new level.
