Robo, a US-based 3D printer manufacturer, has released the R2. As a smart 3D printer with Wi-Fi, the R2 allows you to tackle large-scale projects right from your smartphone. With the Robo app, you’ll be able to connect and print right from your mobile device.
The Robo app is more than just a glorified print button. You can also monitor the progress of your 3D print in real time, manage multiple prints as well as additional printers, connect to cloud libraries, and access thousands of 3D models. You can even make in-app purchases for accessories, filaments, and kits for the R2. If you run into a problem, you’ll have 24/7 tech support through the app as well as general tutorials.
With an 8 x 8 x 10” build volume and 20-micron layer resolution, the R2 can print out some large, detailed 3D models. It also has a 5” color touchscreen so you can control your print job in real time. No need to manually adjust the print bed because it can do it automatically. Plus, it is heated to prevent warping when using ABS filament. It is removable so you can extract your 3D model and clean it more easily. The R2 comes with a single extruder, but it can support a second one (sold separately) so you can print two materials or colors simultaneously. And with the ability to print 30+ material types, the R2 allows you to explore different 3D models with ease.
