LG had TVs and computer monitors great and small on display at CES 2022, and quite a few of them were headline-makers. Let’s check them out!
The Largest-Ever OLED TV: 97" G2
The LG OLED G2 series features the first-ever 97" OLED TV, as well as an 83" version. The G2 series features LG’s Gallery Design, which allows the TV to sit flush to the wall. Powered by the α9 Gen 5 processor, Brightness Booster technology produces a brighter image with enhanced heat dissipation and a more advanced algorithm over previous models.
The Smallest-Ever OLED TV: 42" C2
Suitable for those living in smaller homes, the first ever 42" OLED lets those seated at short viewing distances enjoy all the benefits of OLED, including deep black levels, vibrant color, and enhanced power consumption. Like the G2 series, the C2 series features the α9 Gen 5 processor and will also be available in 48, 55, 65, 77, and 83" sizes. LG touts the 42" as being a great choice for computer gaming, and I’m looking forward to seeing what other gaming features this series offers.
QNED Mini LED
LG announced that it will continue to expand its QNED Mini LED lineup through 2022. This technology uses LG Quantum Dot NanoCell technology to enhance color quality and also features Precision Dimming Technology to boost the contrast.
Gaming Features
Without specifying which series would have which features, LG announced that its TVs will include settings for G-SYNC, FreeSync Premium, and variable refresh rate (VRR), which are available in its Game Optimizer, as well as a new sports mode preset for first-person shooter, role-playing, and real-time strategy games, which is designed to produce more details for enhanced realism. The Game Optimizer menu will now let you choose game-specific features and preset display settings, including the new Dark Room Mode, which optimizes the brightness of the TV in dark rooms.
UX Upgrades
LG’s new webOS 22 platform lets you create personal profiles for the TV, so each member of the household can have their own customized dashboard for quicker access to their favorite streaming services, recommendations, viewing history, and real-time sports alerts. LG plans to add support for Matter to its ThinQ AI in the second half of the year. Matter is a standard for a secure, seamlessly connected smart home, which allows the TV to control compatible connected devices.
New Computer Monitors
LG showed off two new computer monitors: First, the UltraWide 5K 40WP95C features a curved Nano IPS panel with WUHD 5K2K resolution and a wide color gamut for enhanced color accuracy. A modern design and Intel® Thunderbolt™ 4 connectivity round out its top features.
The second monitor that had attendees talking is the DualUp Ergo Monitor, which has a unique 16:18 aspect ratio with a Square Double QHD (2560 x 2880) resolution, which allows for convenient multitasking when the monitor is in portrait orientation. The ergonomic stand lets you clamp the monitor to the edge of your desk to conserve space.
