Come Closer: BenQ Short-Throw Projectors for Big Images in Small Spaces

0Share

Most projectors need to be positioned far away from the screen to produce large images, but short-throw models, like the MX825ST and MW826ST, from BenQ, can be placed much closer to accommodate small spaces. The 3300-lumen MX825ST has a 0.61:1 throw ratio, meaning that every foot of screen width requires it to be placed 0.61 feet farther back. Capable of producing a 120" diagonal image at resolutions up to 1024 x 768, this projector can produce clear images in environments with ambient light. A VGA output enables daisy-chaining multiple projectors together and an anti-dust-accumulation sensor helps keep its color wheel dust-free to prolong life.

Its big brother is the MW826ST, which adds 100 lumens for a total of 3400, and has an even shorter 0.49:1 throw ratio, enabling a 120" image from even closer. Its resolution is also pushed up to 1280 x 800 for watching HD video. Both models have integrated 10W speakers and are compatible with an optional PointWrite kit, which turns the projection surface into an interactive whiteboard for educational applications. They also utilize SmartEco technology, which reduces energy consumption and prolongs lamp life to a maximum of 15,000 hours.
