New Soundbar Systems and a TV from LG

While time may seem to be standing still for most of us, LG is continuing to churn out new home theater products to help us pass our extra hours at home. For example, it has added the 65" CXPUA OLED to its TV line, which sports a native 4K UHD resolution, various gaming features like Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology, and Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa built in. It uses the α9 Gen 3 AI Processor 4K to upscale non-4K content to near-4K quality and supports the HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision HDR formats. The CXPUA is also compatible with popular apps like Disney+, Apple TV+, and many more, downloadable from the LG Content Store.

The SN6Y soundbar system features a 3.1-channel design, meaning the soundbar has dedicated left, right, and center channels to create a broad soundstage with enhanced dialogue clarity, and an external subwoofer, which happens to be wireless. The system outputs up to 420 total Watts to produce room-filling audio and includes a soundbar wall-mount bracket, providing the option of mounting the soundbar directly below or, less ideally, above your TV. At 41.7" wide, LG recommends pairing the SN6Y with TVs 49" and larger.

The SN8YG steps up to a 3.1.2-channel configuration, building upon the features and specs of the SN6Y and adding two Dolby Atmos—and DTS:X-compatible height channels to add a third dimension to the soundstage. Going one step further, the SN9YG expands to a virtual 5.1.2-channel configuration to further broaden the audio image. At 48" wide, LG suggests using the SN9YG with TVs 55" and larger.

Lastly, the SN10YG increases the audio output to 570 total Watts and includes a soundbar that’s 56.8" wide, suitable for TVs 55" and larger, according to LG.
