The newly announced Bose® QuietComfort™ 45 headphones retain a lot of what QuietComfort™ 35 II fans came to love and adds even more. You get the same great active noise cancellation, ability to convert them for wired use, volume-optimized EQ, and more, but can now enjoy improved battery life, clearer hands-free calls, and a new Aware Mode that lets you interact with others without needing to remove your headphones.
At the core of the Bose® QuietComfort™ 45 headphones is active noise-cancellation technology for those who want peace and quiet, or their own private listening experience, no matter where they are. To achieve this, Bose® employs internal microphones that listen to what you want to hear, whether it’s music or silence, and external microphones to hear everything else around you. Then, the integrated electronics generate a sound signal to cancel out what you don’t want to hear and leave you with what you do.
The QuietComfort™ 45 takes this core ANC technology and expands the QuietComfort™ line with new and improved features, such as doubling the mics found in the QC™ 35 II to four and layering-in Beamforming technology. When you’re making hands-free phone calls or video chats, your voice is made to come through crystal clear. The additional microphones filter out even more distracting sound and Beamforming actively focuses them to pick up only your voice.
Another new addition from Bose® is Aware Mode. A lot of focus is made on noise cancellation, but there are times when you do need to hear what’s going on around you. Thanks to Aware Mode, you can do this without taking off the headphones. When activated, the external mics stop canceling the ambient noise, and instead, they broadcast it to your ears. When Aware Mode is activated during silence, it gives you the feeling that you’re not wearing any headphones at all.
Even with these additional bits of hardware, Bose® managed to improve battery life from the QC™ 35 II’s 20-hour maximum to a full day, with up to 24 hours of battery life. For such a long period of playback, it only takes 2 hours to charge the QC™ 45 headphones via USB-C, which is another new addition to the QuietComfort™ line, and a quick 15 minutes of juice will get you a decent 3 hours of power.
Other useful features that Bose® has brought forward with the QuietComfort™ 45 include multi-point support and the ability to convert them for use as a traditional pair of wired headphones with an included AUX audio cable. When using multi-point, you can pair the QC™ 45 headphones to two Bluetooth devices at once, seamlessly switching between them as needed.
With the release of the QuietComfort™ 45 over-ear headphones, Bose® evolves the category by continuing to offer a solid noise-canceling foundation, while significantly building upon that with attributes modern mobile users demand, such as call clarity in almost any environment, USB-C support, and longer overall battery life. To experience this for yourself, you can pick up a pair of QuietComfort™ 45 headphones for yourself at B&H.
