Harlowe has unveiled new iterations of two of their most popular lights. The Mini II, available in a Standard or Creator Kit, is a portable bi-color LED fixture with 1800 lumens of output, a 12.5% step up from the original Mini’s 1600 lumens. The battery should also last around 20% longer than its predecessors, and the 15 to 45° focusable lens now allows you to magnetically attach accessories to it. The Sol 5 Spectra Mobile Light, also available in a Standard or Creator Kit, is a small 220 lumen light that can attach to the back of a smartphone via MagSafe and be controlled via Bluetooth or its touchscreen. The Spectra has a new fully featured RGBCW mode that offers significantly more possibilities than the original Sol 5’s bi-color abilities.
The Harlowe Mini II aims to be the ideal portable all-in-one light with its built-in battery, high color accuracy, impressive 1.07 lb weight, and host of accessories. Included in the Standard Kit are barndoors, a frosted dome, a honeycomb grid, four color gels, a custom carrying case, a USB-C cable and a power adapter. The Creator Kit throws in a desktop tripod, V-mount cold shoe adapter, and V-mount ball head adapter, which should cover all your core rigging needs.
Expect a tunable CCT that goes from 2700 to 6500K, with adjustments made via the onboard controls or Harlowe’s smartphone app. If you’re a content creator who wants to use off-camera lighting without hauling around heavy gear, the Mini II might check all your boxes. There are also a wide range of additional compatible accessories, including softboxes, gels, and more.
The Harlowe Sol 5 Spectra keeps the ultra-small smartphone attachment design of the standard Sol 5 but adds the aforementioned RGBCW capabilities, which can produce a staggering 36,000 colors. The head is still flexible and height-adjustable to get different positionings when in use, but the entire light folds down into the size of a makeup powder case and weighs just 0.34 lb. The touchpad on the back allows for easy control, or you can use Bluetooth and Harlowe’s smartphone app.
Boost Mode also returns, doubling the light’s output for up to 30 seconds. Included in the Standard Kit is a frosted dome, magnetic adhesive rings, a USB-C cable, and a carrying pouch. The Creator Kit throws in two Magic Lenses and five Magic Plates for creative effects, as well as a tabletop tripod. If you’re a creator who needs flexible smartphone lighting in a portable package, give the Sol 5 Spectra a look.
