Manfrotto has announced new 190- and 055-series tripods designed for photographers and videographers. Lightweight yet capable of holding hefty camera rigs, these new tripod legs are built to withstand tough shooting conditions and support you wherever you go. The fresh photo-centric offerings are the Manfrotto 190X3 3-Section AS Aluminum Tripod Kit and 055XPRO 4-Section AS Carbon Fiber Tripod Kit, both equipped with Arca-compatible quick release systems, while the video-focused additions are the 055XPRO3 3-Section Aluminum Tripod Kit and the 055CXPROV 4-Section Carbon Fiber Video Tripod Kit, both of which include a 502 fluid head.
The Manfrotto 190X3 is the lightest and most affordable of the bunch, weighing just 5.29 lb yet capable of supporting camera rigs up to 22 lb. With a maximum height of 67.6” and a minimum height of just 8.2”, these 3-stage legs can get you close to the ground or far above it. The 055XPRO is a tiny bit heavier, at 6.17 lb, but its 4-stage carbon fiber construction and beefed up head helps it hold payloads up to 33.1 lb, as well as go from 3.9 to 71.5” in height. The 190X3 includes a 496-type ball head, while the 055XPRO has an XPRO-style ball head. These heads are Arca-Swiss compatible, speeding up accessory changes and streamlining your workflow if you use L-brackets, camera cages, gimbals, or similar offerings. The tripods fold down to just 27.6” and 25.6” respectively, making them very travel-friendly.
On the video-focused end, the 3-section aluminum 055XPRO3 kit weighs 9.7 lb, has a working height of 21.2 to 70.5” when using the center leveling column, and can safely support rigs up to 22 lb. The 4-section carbon fiber 055CXPROV kit, on the other hand, weighs only 9 lb, but has the same 22 lb payload limit and 21.2 to 70.5” height range. As mentioned previously, both kits include the popular 502 fluid head with a flat base, fluid drag system, and 504PLONG quick release plate. All four tripods sport a new “stealth black” design. Whether you go aluminum for maximum durability or carbon fiber for maximum portability, these new Manfrotto tripods should give you tons of support while staying light enough to take on-the-go.
