Qualcomm is happy to announce its latest venture into the world of processors: the Snapdragon X2. Coming soon to various laptops, the Snapdragon X2 Plus and X2 Elite provide greater uplift in both overall performance as well as AI performance thanks to its 80 TOPS NPU AI accelerator rating.
The Snapdragon X2 Plus comes in two varieties, a 6-core version and a 10-core version. The 6-core version offers high multi- and single-core operational frequencies of 4.0 and 4.04 GHz across the 6 Prime cores. Meanwhile, the X2 Plus 10-core variant includes an additional four Performance cores. Prime cores meet the same specifications as the 6-core variant but with a dedicated Performance operational frequency of 3.4 GHz to assist with heavier tasks.
As for the Snapdragon X2 Elite chips, they also come in two flavors: 12-core and 24-core. The 12-core version gives you 6 Prime and 6 Performance cores offering a maximum performance level of 4 GHz in multi-core, 4.7 GHz for single-core, and 3.4 GHz for Performance core operations. Meanwhile, the 24-core version offers greater uplift with 18 Prime cores and 6 Performance cores. These operate in 4.0 GHz in multi-core, 4.7 (dual) GHz for single-core, and 3.4 GHz in Performance core modes.
Finally, we have the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme, which takes performance to a whole new level with a greater 192-bit memory bus for greater bandwidth, 24 total cores, and more. Across the 18 Prime and 6 Performance cores, we get a 4.4 GHz in multi-core, 5.0 (dual) GHz in single-core, and 3.6 GHz in Performance core modes.
Laptops using the latest Snapdragon X2 series processors are on their way, so keep your eyes on B&H for more announcements and information coming out of CES 2026!
