Today, Apple revealed a bunch of new home-focused products designed for entertainment, security, and expansive control! Devices like the new Apple TV 4K not only deliver clear visuals in a streamlined set top box, but it also incorporates the latest version of Siri AI. HomePod mini is back with an array of beautiful new colors while also enhancing sound across your home. All of this is easily accessible using Apple’s new HomeView device that acts as the central nervous system of all these products.
Apple TV 4K
The latest generation of Apple TV is coming with a new 4K variant. The Apple TV 4K delivers enhanced clarity for a truly immersive viewing experience thanks to the power of the A19 chip. With a 50% uplift in CPU performance and 2x faster GPU performance, the Apple TV 4K offers smoother animations, greater responsiveness, and even faster navigation over the previous models. Pair that with a dedicated AV1 decoder built directly into the unit and you can experience a level of efficiency while utilizing less bandwidth.
For the first time, Apple TV 4K enables you to create your own four-speaker surround sound experience when paired with multiple HomePod mini 2 units. Each speaker works intelligently with the Apple TV 4K to recognize their position within the room and automatically detect timing, levels, and calibrate space for the best audio experience.
Apple TV 4K also includes a new and improved Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. This conversational assistant helps give you more access to the answers you seek. Looking for more suggestions on what to watch next? Siri AI can help direct you to your next favorite show. If you are an information sponge like me, you may want to ask where certain shows were filmed, where you know this one actor from, and more! This is all done through a triple far-field mic array that recognizes “Hey Siri” (or even just “Siri”), even when audio is playing. No need to hold the remote or anything!
Speaking of remotes, Find My support is extended with Precision Finding, which helps you find your lost remote by offering directions and even using options to play a sound from the remote. If you do end up actually losing it for good, you can buy the Siri Remote separately.
Applications are built directly into the Apple TV 4K, giving you access to various tools like Apple Fitness+, which allows you to get a full view of various workouts on a big screen! You can also make FaceTime calls with Continuity Camera, view photos, and do a whole lot more.
HomePod mini 2
Whether you are looking for a personal speaker for your room or a multi-speaker surround sound system to work alongside the Apple TV 4K, the HomePod mini 2 is there to do both! Providing rich 360-degree sound from a compact design, you get all the highs and lows possible.
Powered by the Apple S10 chip and advanced computational audio, the HomePod mini 2 analyzes music in real time to optimize various aspects of your sound, including loudness, acoustic levels, and more! HomePod mini 2 can also serve as a speaker for your Mac, offering support for FaceTime and video calls.
When it comes to controlling the HomePod mini 2, you can easily do so with just your voice or use the Home app to automate your listening processes. Integrated Sound Recognition gives HomePod mini 2 users peace of mind by listening to various alarms, sending you a notification immediately upon detection.
Apple HomeView
Whether you are looking for a central point for your home’s smart devices or looking for a bit of entertainment with your management, the HomeView brings multiple system concepts together in a neat form factor that fits any room.
Equipped with a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and connected to a domed speaker base by a stainless steel hinge, the HomeView can blend into your home’s surroundings with ease. Adaptive display technology reacts to the changing light throughout the day, adjusting brightness to give you the ideal view.
The HomeView is more than just a fancy screen or digital photo frame, it can perform a wide range of tasks, all of which can be shared with everyone in your home. Thanks to the integrated camera and mic system, the HomeView can recognize you and shift from a household screen to something more personalized. Through a mixture of voice and touch controls, you can chat with others via FaceTime, keeping you connected in new and interesting ways.
HomeView recognizes up to six people and delivers a personalized experience for each user. Everyone gets a unique Home Screen with apps and widgets that meet their needs. Personal content remains private from others while shared photos and music and enjoyed by everyone! With the integration of Siri AI, the HomeView expands its utility even further. Messages, Calendars, and Apple Music playlists can be synced, giving you instant access to these applications at a moment’s notice. You can even engage in conversations with Siri, learning more about various topics like movies and music.
A multitude of playful and informative faces are available, allowing you to curate the information you see at a glance. Cherished moments can be displayed alongside other important pieces of information. An integrated Center Stage camera is built into the HomeView, giving others a clear look at you and those who may also be around on FaceTime.
Thanks to the two custom full-range drivers in the display and the custom engineered acoustic system, you can experience crisp and clean audio! Play your favorite music or videos with deep sound while observing cover art, lyrics, and more! With compatibility across multiple devices—including the HomePod, HomePod mini, and AirPlay compatible speakers—you can continue listening to your media as you go from room to room thanks to Handoff.
Finally, HomeView includes a unique smart home dashboard that gives you ultimate control over various smart devices, including upcoming Apple and LG equipment. Adjust your lights, set fans, and do so much more just from the dashboard!
A separate wall-mounted model will also be made available with mounts from Schneider Home if you wish to free up some tabletop or countertop space.
