Versatile Bescor LED-700 Series Video Lights

Professionals in the photo and video community put a lot of stock into finding portable, easy-to-set-up equipment, and that’s exactly what Bescor aims to provide. Their Field Pro Lighting brings user-friendly versatility to the forefront with several kits designed especially for videography professionals. The LED-700 series is a great solution for lighting both in the studio and on location.

The first thing worth noting is that these are packaged as lighting kits, rather than individual units. They make excellent collections, or even jumping-off points, for those who like having everything in one place. No additional accessories are necessary for the LED-700 lights to work right out of the box. All of the required hardware, power supplies, heavy-duty stands, and batteries are supplied.

Each kit is built around one or two LED-700 units, named for the 700 LEDs that are housed in each panel. Together, they yield a 500-watt tungsten equivalent and measure 250 lumens at a 12' distance. The lights stay barely warm to the touch at all times. This is a major advantage over working with hot lights, which can cause discomfort or even harm to you, the talent, food subjects, or your workspace. The back of each light features an LCD screen that displays your current color temperature and dimming percentage while you’re shooting, each of which can be adjusted by turning a designated knob. These LEDs are dimmable from 100% down to 10%, and offer a solid range in color temperature from 5400K (350 bulbs) to 3200K (350 bulbs). A major advantage here is the fact that videographers can leave their gels or light-balancing filters at home, and instead dial-in the right temperature on the display. When you need to travel light and set up quickly, this can be a tremendous help.

All lights are connected to their power source via 4-pin XLR input and have a dedicated AC/DC selector switch. The 8A fuse can be replaced whenever necessary. Another key feature and added element of portability are the AC adapters, which are multi-voltage type units that can be used in any country. If you’re traveling outside of the US, all you'll need is a plug adapter appropriate to the country in which you'll be shooting. The basic Bescor LED-700S pack comes with one light unit, an 84" air-cushioned stand, and AC adapter. If you need more power, the 700K comes with 2 fixtures, stands, and AC adapter kits. Both sets (and any of the LED-700 units) come with a built-in V-Mount plate for an optional (or additional) 14.4v lithium-ion battery. If battery power is essential to your workflow, you may want to consider instead the Bescor 700SB, which is a single-light kit that comes with a stand and 95 watt-hour lithium-ion battery pack.  Likewise, the 700KB kit provides two lights with lithium-ion batteries. Each battery pack provides four hours of run time on a single charge, which is perfect for on-location shoots where power outlets are scarce. Like the 700K, the KB kit also supplies a padded nylon case.
