Sony a7R II and a7S II for Photography

In the following video, Larry Becker, from KelbyOne Media, dives deep into the features of Sony’s latest full-frame mirrorless cameras, the a7R II and a7S II, and analyzes how they compare when it comes to still photography. The video begins with a segment about the similarities between the two models, including the five-axis in-body image stabilization, 0.78x electronic viewfinder, and use of the BIONZ X processor. From there, Becker goes over the significant differences, namely the 42MP and 12MP sensors and the focusing systems. He then shares his findings on noise and speed before providing a concise conclusion to help customers make an informed decision.

Sony a7S II and a7R II for Video

Join Chase Kubasiak, from Zacuto, as he compares the video capabilities of the Sony a7S II and a7R II to help determine which 4K-capable full-frame mirrorless camera is right for you. The video covers features that are common to both cameras, such as internal 4K recording using the XAVC S codec, built-in five-axis stabilization, and S-Log gamma curves, while also highlighting the differences between them, such as the 12.2MP sensor of the a7S II that provides full-pixel 4K readout, and the 42MP back side illuminated sensor of the a7R II that delivers its optimal 4K quality in APS-C/Super 35 mode. Throughout the course of the video, the two cameras are tested and compared, with specific focus given to 4K image quality, high ISO noise, autofocus performance, and rolling shutter.

Sony a7S and a7R II Summary

Join Doug Guerra, from B&H, as he quickly breaks down the key similarities and differences between Sony’s two latest full-frame mirrorless cameras, the a7R II and the a7S II. Both cameras share the updated body design, five-axis in-body image stabilization that was first introduced by the a7 II, as well as offering advanced video features such as internal 4K recording and S-Log gamma settings. However, each camera offers its own distinct advantages for photographers and videographers. The a7R II, with its 42MP back side illuminated sensor and 399-point phase-detection autofocus, delivers high-resolution still images, while the a7S II features a 12.2MP sensor that’s optimized for low-light sensitivity and full-frame 4K quality, while also adding additional video-specific features. Which camera is right for you? Watch the video to find out!

Questions about the auto-focus comparison at 6:10: Which camera is used for the first part of the shot (woman opening the gate)?  Is it real-time? Does the S2 really take that much longer to focus on the animals in the field?

? You were testing lowlight with Sony Bodies at...........F4 !!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA......HAHAHAHA. Is this supposed to be a Pro Test comparison ?

What does appeture have to do with noise? The were testing low light noise. Appeture is not relevent as both cameras had the same appeture and shutter...the test was for ISO.

Great videos - if I had the money I would buy one of these cameras (if I had won the Powerball I would have bought both)

Was surprised to see pigs on a B&H video hehe
