Canon has launched the PowerShot V series, a new camera lineup aimed squarely at vloggers. The PowerShot V10 Vlog Camera, the first camera in this new series, was designed with simplicity in mind. Users will be able to capture and share high-quality video effortlessly, all while saving storage space on their phones. Indeed, the PowerShot V10, available in black or silver, is less obtrusive than an iPhone 14, yet just as intuitive.
The V10 is compact and easy to carry, measuring only 90mm tall (133mm when fully extended) and weighing 211 g (including the battery). Within this self-contained camera is a built-in stand with an adjustable thirty-degree range of motion. It also contains a large, built-in microphone capable of capturing audio in stereo. With the bigger microphone, the V10 can record better audio quality than ever before, even besting its more expensive predecessor, the Canon G7 X Mark III.
The PowerShot V10, also available as a Creator Kit, along with an accessory kit, comes with a versatile 19mm f/2.8 wide-angle lens (perfect for handheld shots) and supports 4K UHD recording at 30 fps and Full HD at 60 fps or 30 fps. You can use the V10 horizontally or you can change the orientation by simply flipping the camera sideways. The V10 also has a useful tilting screen for multiple angles. Finally, the V10's large, 1.0-inch CMOS sensor enables low-noise video recording, even in dim environments. The V10 is so versatile, you could even use it as a webcam by connecting it to your computer with a USB-C cable.
The V10 has 14 new movie and color filters to play around with, including a smooth skin movie mode and a movie auto neutral density filter. When engaged, the smooth skin movie mode will gloss over blemishes for a more natural-looking effect. This can be further fine-tuned with five different levels of intensity.
If you're worried about having to buy a new tripod, fear not. Canon has included a threaded socket on the bottom of the camera for tripod mounting, although the V10 is light enough that you could easily record video one-handed.
The PowerShot V10 also comes with a free Camera Connect app that lets you shoot and record content remotely, then easily connect and transfer content to your phone, all without ever needing a single cable. You can also use the app to control the camera remotely, and livestream.
The combination of a great internal microphone, intuitive interface, and sharp face tracking and frame autofocus make Canon's pioneer PowerShot V series camera a great choice for vloggers.
