It has been a while since the ZEISS Ikon and Contax cameras were rolling off assembly lines and shipping to the B&H SuperStore shelves but, today, Zeiss has announced an intriguing new full-frame digital camera—the ZEISS ZX1—featuring a fixed ZEISS Distagon 35mm f/2 T* lens sitting in front of a Zeiss-developed 37.4MP sensor. The lens has 8 elements in 5 groups, with a minimum focus distance of 11.8", and the sensor has an ISO range of ISO80-51200. This camera has been designed from the base up as a machine that allows you to capture, edit, and share your images easily without plugging into a computer and post-processing at home.
Many digital cameras offer in-camera post-processing, but the photographer’s favorite tools for editing images remains computer-based software. The new ZEISS ZX1 has Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC built into its brain, and the camera allows you to edit your photos on a large 4.3" multi-touch display on the rear of the camera. Don’t sweat the memory cards either, because the camera has 512GB of memory on board—enough for 6,800 raw DNG-format files or 50,000 JPEGs. The camera has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB-C connectivity so you can share your captured and edited photos on the go, as well as functioning to keep the camera’s software up to date.
More specs, please? The camera shoots at up to 3 fps and records 4K video last 30fps. The camera measures approximately 5.6 x 3.7 x 1.8".

Looks good. I shoot for travel, worldwide and this would be comparable t my Lumix DMC-zs45. I shoot for advertising and the Zeiss would be great.
Looks promising. The design looks functional. I like the design and how it incorporates a widened grip. Most importantly, I really appreciate the inclusion of an EVF. Even though I will always prefer an OVF over an EVF, I appreciate the fact that Ziess had the forethought to include one while so many other camera manufacturers are deleting them and relying solely on the rear LCD. The EVF is important to camera ergonomics. It provides a point of contact for stabilizing the camera during the exposure. I want to scream every time I see a new camera model with only an LCD as a view finder. You see these people out and about with their cameras thrown out in front of them trying to compose a shot and when they press the shutter, the camera tilts and their horizon is crooked. Then the process repeats. Can't wait to see real world examples.
I wonder how it compares to the best little camera, the Sony RX1R II. As a camera and in price. Besides the Lightroom fuunction it seems to be a direct competitor. It even seems to have the same lens.
I'd love to see if the onboard Lightroom is capable of saving custom presets I created. They always serve as the base of all my editing work.

Great, great, great, and it is about time for this concept: for a real camera to have shoot, edit, send capabilities. I am a film shooter these days, but a digital such as this meets my travel requirements. With more than 37MP available I can crop within the frame, if necessary. One sharp lens is all it needs for me. The Zeiss 35mm f2 is a testified winner. Price? Well, that will be the hold-up.

I use an X-Pro2 Now and like That Grip. Have not used it much in very cold Weather with
gloves on. Looking at the NEW Zeiss I wonder how solid the Camera would be to Hold & Carry. Still waiting for LEITZ to
make a Digi Cam with a GRIP. I used an M4 for years but did Not Shoot anywhere Near The Amount
of Shooting I did with My D7000 & D7200.
It may seem Out Of Place to bring this up here ...

A fantastic news indeed, sepcially for those who shoot street like me and travel and documentary photographer. Being able to perform in-camera conversion and photo-editing will be an amazing feature. A competitive price bracket will make this camera a game-changer. Any EDA?
