FUJIFILM announces the INSTAX WIDE 400, its latest camera dedicated to the popular instant film’s largest format. The successor to 2014’s WIDE 300, FUJIFILM has new features for group photography while slimming down the camera body. FUJIFILM is also debuting three new color options for its hybrid digital/instant camera, the INSTAX MINI Liplay Hybrid.
The WIDE 400—which inherits the same 95mm, f/14 retractable lens from its predecessor—now comes with a detachable close-up lens for selfies and other close-up photography. The camera has a focal range of 15.7 to 19.7” with the close-up lens attached, and the lens comes with a small mirror for selfie-takers to ensure their composition. Without the close-up lens, the WIDE 400 has two focal distance settings of 2.9 to 9.8’ in Normal mode and 9.8’ and beyond in Landscape mode.
Ideal for group shots, the camera features a new self-timer dial with four timing options. With up to ten seconds of exposure delay, it’s easier than ever to set the camera up to include everyone in the shot. In addition to a standard 1/4”-20 tripod mount, the WIDE 400 also comes with a camera angle adjustment accessory with two different pedestal sizes that can be used to prop the camera at the optimal angle for composition.
FUJIFILM has spruced up the design as well, corralling the WIDE 400’s elements into a more traditional shape that is slightly smaller than its predecessor. The camera debuts in a sage green color and comes with a shoulder strap and four AA batteries.
The INSTAX MINI LiPlay Hybrid Instant Camera—whose stone white color version has been retired—will now be available in Deep Bronze, Misty White, and Matcha Green for those who want both digital print and analog capture options in the INSTAX MINI form factor.
