Nikon’s latest firmware update for the Z9 mirrorless camera (V 4.0) adds Auto Capture functionality, expanded ISO for N-Log recording, expanded Hi-Res Zoom speeds, slow-motion video recording, and more.
Auto Capture allows photographers to set parameters for subjects to meet (e.g. motion, distance, subject detection) before the camera creates an exposure on its own. This allows remote shooting and is especially useful in scenarios in which it is not comfortable or practical for a photographer to remain in the same place for extended periods of time. Subject acquisition has also improved for capturing small and fast-moving subjects with precision.
For videographers, ISO can now be set as low as Lo 2.0 (ISO 200) when recording in N-Log for improved dynamic range and less noise. Hi-Res zoom speeds have increased from three to eleven in order to control zooms more accurately. A new Slow-Motion video function enables high speed recording for videos to play back at 1/4-1/5 the frame rate.
