Rokinon Releases Portrait-Length 85mm f/1.4 Lens with Autofocus

Continuing its expansion into the world of autofocus lenses, Rokinon has just announced the AF 85mm f/1.4 EF lens; a fast portrait-length prime for Canon EF-mount DSLRs. The 85mm is often thought of as the ideal lens for portraits, and the bright f/1.4 maximum aperture complements this by affording increased control over depth of field for isolating subject matter. Regarding its optics, a single hybrid aspherical element is featured to reduce distortion and spherical aberrations, and an Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to cut flare and ghosting.

Unique among Rokinon lenses, this 85mm features and advanced Ultrasonic Dual Linear AF motor, which offers quick and quiet focusing performance. A dedicated AF/MF switch also allows for quickly changing between focus modes, and the internal focusing design maintains the overall length of the lens during use. Additionally, this 85mm f/1.4 has nine aperture blades, which help to produce smooth bokeh.
