Tokina Announces atx-i 100mm F2.8 FF MACRO Lens

Tokina has announced the successor to its popular AT-X M100 PRO D Macro lens—the Tokina atx-i 100mm F2.8 FF MACRO. Slightly lighter (490 grams) and shorter (95.1mm) than its predecessor, Tokina’s newest 100mm macro lens is designed for portraits, landscapes, street shooting, commercial applications, and, of course, macro close-ups down to life-size (1:1).

Available in mounts for Canon EF and Nikon F DSLR cameras, the new medium telephoto macro, which contains 9 Multi-coated elements in 8 groups, can be easily adapted for use with any number of mirrorless cameras. It’s also worth noting that the focus rings rotate in the same direction as their proprietary Nikon and Canon lens counterparts.

Tokina claims the new 100mm macro features extremely low distortion with low levels of light falloff, soft bokeh at wider apertures, minimal levels of chromatic aberration, and zero curvature of field, which is critical when photographing flat-field subjects.

Other features include a One-Touch Focus Clutch for quick switching between manual and autofocus modes, a Focus Range limiter, which cuts down on focus-hunting time when shooting in macro mode, a non-rotating 55mm filter thread, and a minimum focus distance of 11.8". A Tokina BH-551 lens hood is included.
