In this video, Rob Rives demonstrates the Lectrosonics PDR, a portable digital recorder designed for capturing high-quality digital audio that can synchronize with timecode. Recording at industry-standard 24-bit/48 kHz audio in WAV (BWF) format, the PDR is particularly useful in situations when using a wireless microphone is impractical, such as when distance to a wireless receiver is too far.
The PDR stores its recordings on microSDHC cards, and accepts audio via its TA5M 5-pin male connection point. Via simple controls, the PDR's input can record at mic- and line-level, utilizing a Lectrosonics' servo-bias preamp for 2 and 4V lavalier or headset microphones. You can monitor directly from the 3.5mm connection at headphone or line level, and synchronize time code with video via the 5-pin LEMO jack. At 2.4 x 2.1 x 0.7", the PDR can be concealed in costumes, and can be hidden easily on-set to capture ambient sound.
