Always Versatile: Shure Expands ULX-D Solutions for AV Conferencing

0Share

Upon entering the world of wireless microphones in 1990, Shure wasted no time in pioneering new products to serve the ever-changing demands of the industry. After its UHF-R wireless system received a TEC Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement in 2006, Shure knew that standing still was not the company’s style. Moving forward, they continued to release new wireless products, including the ULX-D wireless system, renowned for its 24-bit audio fidelity, in 2012. Always expanding, Shure has beefed up its buffet of goods with products optimized for conferencing and meetings, including new Microflex-Series gooseneck microphones, new wireless mics and transmitters in the ULX-D Series, and new networked charging stations.

The new Microflex-Series MX410 and MX415 Dualflex gooseneck microphones offer an array of useful options. They feature CommShield Technology for improved RF filtering and resistance to radio signals. The newly incorporated Dualflex design provides flexible sections at the top and bottom of the gooseneck, allowing angles that were not previously possible. 10 and 15" goosenecks are available, all with the flexible Dualflex design. You can choose between cardioid and supercardioid models, or change cartridges, depending on the situation. The cardioid polar pattern offers more rejection from behind the mic, while providing a wider pickup area in front of the mic. Supercardioid delivers a narrower pickup pattern in front of the mic with slightly less rejection from the rear of the mic. Also, the mic’s status is indicated by a color ring, which is available in single- or two-color versions. The microphones come without a base to allow for versatile mounting options, from wired and wireless desktop bases to surface-mount preamps, to new ULXD8 gooseneck base transmitters.

Shure offers the new ULXD8 gooseneck base transmitters in four versions, each accommodating a different wireless frequency band G50 (470 to 534 MHz), H50 (534 to 598 MHz), J50 (572 to 636 MHz), and X52 (902 to 928 MHz). They boast AES-256 encryption for security, a transmission range of up to 300 feet, a configurable mute button, and up to nine hours of continuous battery life. They support the new SBC450 and SBC850 charging stations, which can be ordered in 4-bay or 8-bay configurations with or without power supplies. The charging stations offer charging status indication via two-color LEDs and remote status viewing over a network.

Rounding out the lineup are the new Shure ULXD6 wireless boundary microphone transmitters. They combine the features of the ULXD8 transmitters (AES 256-bit encryption, 300’ transmission range, customizable mute functionality, and long battery life) with an integrated boundary microphone. The units can be ordered with cardioid or omnidirectional polar patterns in the same four band options as the ULXD8 (G50, H50, J50, and X52). The cardioid models offer sound rejection from the rear of the microphone’s diaphragm for a directional pickup pattern, while the omnidirectional version is sensitive to sound from all directions. The mics also support the new SBC450 and SBC850 charging stations.

In preparation for your next conference or meeting, feel welcome to stop by the B&H SuperStore or website to check out the new Shure wireless products.
