Along with your lens and recording media, batteries have to be considered one of the most crucial components in your video camera rig. In an update to their selection of pro batteries, SmallRig has introduced two new versions of a couple of V-mount batteries: the VB99 Pro Mini V-Mount Battery and the x Caleb Pike VB212 Mini V-Mount Battery. They’ve also released a nifty Storage Bag for DJI Osmo Pocket 4P / Insta360 Luna Ultra.
VB99 Pro Mini V-Mount Battery B Version
This B version of the VB99 Pro Mini V-Mount Battery now features an additional D-Tap port, for a total of two, that are handy for powering so many pro video accessories. It has also been updated to enable charging from both USB-C ports, instead of just one, and now offers smart app control. Use the mobile app to monitor battery levels, control ports, locate the battery, and to update the system remotely.
Like the original version, it also provides one 8 VDC barrel output, one 12 VDC barrel output, two USB-C inputs/outputs, and one USB-A output for powering your various accessories, cameras, and mobile devices. And for those extra-long production days that we love so much, there’s no need to wait around for half a day to recharge your battery—the VB99 B version uses an intelligent BMS (battery management system) to fully recharge in just 2.5 hours, thanks to support for 100W PD charging.
The VB99 B version has an ultracompact, lightweight form and a 99Wh output that can support a nominal 16.8V output. This durable, travel-friendly battery is ideal for powering handheld cameras, drones, gimbals, and any video component like a portable light that you may be carrying on your person. It features a fireproof aluminum exterior that is drop-proof, and its inner chip provides fast charging and overcharge, short-circuit, and overcurrent protection.
x Caleb Pike VB212 Mini V-Mount Battery B Version
This B Version of the x Caleb Pike VB212 Mini V-Mount Battery now features the same updates as the VB99 battery above, namely an additional D-Tap port charging from both USB-C ports, and smart app control. This ultracompact, lightweight 212Wh battery is travel friendly and it supports up to a 10A draw with a nominal 14.54V output. Like the original version, it is suitable for powering handheld cameras, drones, gimbals, and any rig or component where size and weight are key factors.
In addition to the two D-Tap ports mentioned above, the VB212 B version battery provides one 8 VDC barrel output, one 12 VDC barrel output, two USB-C outputs, and one USB-A output for powering various accessories, cameras, or mobile devices. The battery can be charged using a standard V-mount charger, an optional D-Tap charger, or via the USB-C ports using a PD fast charger. Its bright OLED display shows the remaining battery capacity and status.
