The digital wizards at RED DIGITAL CINEMA have done it again. Now, you can upgrade your RED DIGITAL CINEMA BRAIN with a 5K Dragon-X S35 sensor, to add 6K support without needing to swap out your sensor. While firmware V7.3.0 brings a few minor fixes, the real star of the show is the 6K support, which makes the firmware upgrade process well worth it. Upgrading your firmware will mean that you cannot roll back/downgrade the firmware to prior than 7.0.2, so it is worth taking a few moments to consider before jumping in. Along with the 6K support, the firmware fixes intermittent HD-SDI output with the V-Lock IO Expander module, color playback, color in low-light scenes, and horizontal lines on startup with the DSMC2 RED TOUCH 7.0" LCD. Once the firmware upgrade is completed, RED recommends that you perform a sensor calibration, as well as a gyro calibration to fix the horizon feature. Please note that the HD-SDI output is True Progressive and does not support 1080i or 1080 PSF signals.
To install this update on your camera, you will need to visit RED's firmware download page and follow the instructions.
