Core SWX Releases Helix Max Ultras, Powerbase Edge Xtreme, and More

Core SWX has a host of new products that should fit your battery needs, no matter the camera and use case. Highlights include the Helix Max Ultra Dual-Voltage Smart Batteries, available in V-mount, Gold Mount, or B-mount, with 99Wh, 156Wh, 297Wh, or 395Wh capacities. These batteries work for 14 or 28V applications, including high-end cinema cameras, powerful LED lights, and more.

If size and weight are your primary concern, check out the XCell Micro-Sized V-Mount Smart Batteries, available in 99Wh and 148Wh capacities. Light and compact, the XCell batteries still feature D-Tap and USB-C PD connectivity. Other new releases include the Powerbase Edge SNAP Xtreme Smart-Stacking Battery, an M-Snap compatible NANO-FMX Sony L-Series, and the NANO-C98MX HDV battery in a Canon BP-A or Sony BP-U varietal.

The Helix Max Ultra dual-voltage batteries will be the star of the show here for a lot of filmmakers, as these durable, versatile offerings support up to a 20A draw and boast a built-in D-Tap port plus two USB-C PD ports. Monitor your usage via the backlit LCD, wraparound LEDs, or the Voltbridge iD mobile app. Being able to operate at 14V or 28V is a must for modern high-end batteries, and ensures compatibility for cameras like the ARRI Alexa 35, RED V-RAPTOR XL, and Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K. The Helix Max Ultras use AI-driven power management to adjust outputs, and even include real-time diagnostics, battery health insights, and firmware updates through the Voltbridge iD app.

For video teams looking to stay nimble, the XCell Micro-Sized V-Mount Smart Batteries are an appealing proposition, with the 99Wh option clocking in at only 1.3 lb and measuring 3.9 x 2.82 x 2.2", while the 148Wh option is 1.55 lb and 3.93 x 2.83 x 2.63". They’re ideal for gimbal work, drones, car mounts, and any other rigging situation where every pound counts. The XCell V-mounts have an OLED monitor for real-time percentage and runtime readouts, as well as 8 and 12 VDC barrel outputs and the aforementioned D-Tap and USB-C PD outputs. Expect a 10A draw and SMBUS communication with smart chargers and cameras.

The Powerbase Edge SNAP Xtreme is an upgraded version of Core’s SNAP stacking battery concept, with an impressive 98Wh capacity, 10A draw, Voltbridge iD support, and a 100W USB-C PD input. As you’d expect, that USB-C can also be used as an output, alongside a second USB-C and two D-Tap outputs. You can magnetically stack and hot swap SNAP Xtremes, as well as use them with an array of Snaplock accessories, but they are not compatible with older 49Wh SNAP battery packs.

The new NANO-FMX Sony L-Series sports a 69Wh capacity, magnetic snap-charge functionality, and a 30W bidirectional USB-C PD port. Note that the FMX isn’t compatible with many L-series Sony cameras, and is more meant to power multiple accessories at the same time.

For filmmakers who want to power their camera plus additional accessories, the last two new Core SWX offerings could be perfect. The NANO-C98MX HDV battery comes in a Canon BP-A or Sony BP-U style, and boasts 98Wh capacity, a 45W USB-C PD in/out, a 11 to 16.8V D-Tap, and the same magnetic snap-charge technology as other Nano M-Snap batteries to allow for stacked charging.
