Designed for medium and large businesses establishments, Dahua’s Ultra Series cameras are the best of the best of its 2017 surveillance camera lineup. The Ultra Series 8MP Varifocal Outdoor Bullet and Dome cameras feature 8MP sensors that capture up to Ultra HD 4K resolution video (3840 x 2160) at the space-saving frame rate of 15 fps, or 2560 x 1440 high resolution at real-time 30 fps, both ideal for advanced security operations where fine details are important.
The two models share the same features except for differences mainly in form factor and night vision distance. Both have 3.7-11mm varifocal lenses that provide a 46 to 112-degree field of view, and offer an audio input for incorporating an external mic for sound capture. They’re weatherproof and vandal resistant, and can be used outdoors and indoors.
The bullet camera is designed for mounting on walls and is easier to install using its built-in bracket, and has 328 feet of IR LED night vision, whereby it’ll capture black-and-white images in complete darkness. The dome camera can be attached to a ceiling or wall; it is more compact and less perceptible, and provides 164 feet of night vision.
The BNC HDCVI output of the cameras will let you transmit your footage to a Digital Video Recorder (sold separately) up to 2,300 feet in 4K resolution, 2,600 feet in Full HD 1080p, and 3,900 feet in 720p HD, so you can run extended-length coaxial cables throughout your outfit, from multiple cameras to the same HDCVI DVR. You can also transmit at about half these distances using CAT6 Ethernet cabling (using an optional balun). You may find the bullet or dome version best for your location, or a combination of both depending the size and type of each space.
