Gimbals are getting smaller, lighter, and easier to set up to support your mirrorless camera, and the new SCORP-Mini gimbal from Feiyu has all those characteristics and more. The SCORP-Mini retains the great features of the SCORP, and SCORP Pro, such as camera control, focus motor compatibility, a handy touchscreen, and multiple follow modes, but in a smaller, more compact package. Feiyu has also introduced a new folding Dual Handle that is compatible with the SCORP Pro, which provides enhanced two-handed gimbal operation.
Weighing only 1.7 lb, the SCORP-Mini is designed for smaller mirrorless or action cameras up to 2.65 lb, providing durable support in a tiny package. Its 1.3" OLED touchscreen allows you to configure and control the gimbal along with a portrait button and multi-function knob for fine adjustment. Like the other members of the SCORP line, the touchscreen and button controls are on a secondary handle that protrudes from the main handle, allowing built-in two-handed operation.
Other features the SCORP-Mini retains include an Arca-type quick-release plate, improved axis locking, and follow modes including flash follow, auto-rotation, motion time lapse, and panorama. When using a mirrorless camera on the gimbal, you can remotely control the gimbal and the camera (with the appropriate shutter cable) using the Feiyu SCORP app via Bluetooth; and when using your smartphone as the gimbal camera, you can directly utilize the Feiyu ON app to control the gimbal.
On the physical side, the gimbal features a 1/4"-20 thread on the bottom of the main handle to mount accessories or use a tripod. The integrated battery provides up to 13 hours of run time and allows for fast charging to charge to full in less than two hours. It also supports multiple accessories such as the SCORP Focus Motor, smartphone portrait-orientation plate, magnetic fill light, and tracking module. Five cables are provided to support trigger control in a variety of mirrorless camera brands.
Meanwhile, the Dual Handle is designed specifically for the SCORP Pro and provides additional stability on the sides by mounting on the center base of the SCORP gimbal. The durable aluminum handle allows you to distribute weight from one hand to both arms to minimize fatigue. The arms of the handle fold in for storage and feature quick locking for security.
