Sure to help dispel your post-holiday blues as you hit the slopes or the beach, Kandao’s QooCam 8K 360 Camera packs a slew of immersive features into a pocket-sized form. Introduced at CES 2020, this svelte device is small enough to slip into your pocket to capture up to 8K30 or 4K120 video wherever your travels take you.

The QooCam 8K incorporates two 200° lenses and a robust 1/1.7"-type sensor that is more than twice the size of the QooCam 4K 360 model. It seems like just yesterday we were cropping full HD from our 360 4K videos—now with the rich resolution of 8K you can fully enjoy your experiences, then easily select just the views you want in 4K from your 8K capture. Make on-the-fly edits using the QooCam 8K’s touchscreen or your phone and the mobile app, or live stream in 4K360 so your followers can get the full effect of your event.

In addition to a whopping four times the resolution of 4K video, the QooCam 8K also boasts features like SuperSteady image stabilization, nuanced SuperHDR photos, time-lapse modes, 4K Slow Motion at 120 fps, and up to 960 fps in 4K with AI Slow Motion. A six-axis gyro produces impressive stabilization, as shown in Kandao’s stadium-steps running video, but made to work with more relaxing pursuits as well! The iOS/Android QooCam app lets you control the camera remotely and also to make quick edits with preset templates. This 8K 360 camera is Google Street View-compatible and can capture up to 30MP panoramic photos in 12-bit raw. When you do have time for full-fledged editing, the QooCam Studio program offers a complete set of editing functions like batch editing and AI Slow Motion playback.

This consumer VR camera offers pro touches like user-assignable shortcuts, selectable white balance, shutter speed and ISO choices in manual photo mode and 1/60 (1/50) or 1/120 (1/100) second shutter options in Sports mode. Additional handy QooCam 8K features include a 3.5mm port for attaching a microphone, integrated 64GB storage with support for up to 256GB micro-SD card storage, battery charging while shooting, and a run time of up to 45 minutes on one battery charge. Sized like a chunkier iPhone X, the QooCam 8K weighs just over half a pound and includes a protective holder and a lanyard. It doesn’t come with an extension stick, so be sure to pick up the QooCam Selfie Stick for a free-floating POV or man-on-the-street viewpoint.

Would you confirm that we can extract a 4K-UHD 30fps "conventional" video from the 360 video? I haven't seen that explicitly stated elsewhere, but that would be my application rather than posting 360 videos. Is this done in the desktop Studio software? Thanks.

Hi William -

According to Kandoo: 8K Express Edit: you can convert 8K 360 videos into 4K overcapture non-360 videos on your phone.

so what makes it 8k?  are these 2 4ksensors stiched together? or is each camera 8k.  Also you say there is manual features in photo mode, is manual control for video mode as well?  Also is there a video record limit? thank you

2 x 4K sensors stitched together; it looks like the video mode has selectable exposure and white balance settings plus limited shutter control in Sports video mode; no record limit is mentioned in the user guide. This is a new product, we will update the product description as more information becomes available.
