If you’re a fan of compelling large-format, ultra-high-resolution video capture, you’ll be intrigued to learn that you now have another camera to choose from: the Kinefinity MAVO Edge 8K. Newly available through B&H, this compact, carbon-fiber body camera features a large-format 3:2 sensor, frame rates up to 70 fps in 8K, dual-native 640/2560 ISO, up to 14+ stops of dynamic range, and in-camera Apple ProRes 4444 XQ recording via dual SSD media slots.
Pleasing skin tones, natural color, and organic detail make the MAVO Edge perfect not only for high-resolution, cine-style capture, but also suit it to oversampling for rich, nuanced output in 4K or 6K. You can view your video capture using the KineMON-5U Ultra-Bright Monitor Bundle, which features a 5" onboard monitor with 2000 cd/m² brightness, a 1080p IPS LCD retina display, a durable aluminum-alloy housing, and also includes mounting options and a sun hood.
Besides the MAVO Edge camera body-only option, you can choose between two pre-assembled kits. The MAVO Edge 8K Camera Core Package is designed for run-and-gun shooters with a cage, the KineMON-5U monitor, one 1TB SSD card, three KineBAT batteries, two GripBAT batteries, power cables, and a case. The MAVO Edge 8K Camera Pro Package adds a 1080p viewfinder with a micro-OLED screen and an adjustable diopter to the Core Package and amends the battery count to two KineBAT batteries and four GripBAT batteries.
Formats and Frame Rates
The versatile MAVO Edge offers a plethora of format choices ranging from full-frame, wide 8K70 and open gate 8K45 to oversampled full-frame DCI 4K55, Super35 DCI 6K72, DCI 4K108, and DCI 2K215. Additional choices include Super35 4:3 and 6:5 anamorphic, UHD 4K 2.4:1 widescreen, and up to 280 fps in 2K wide for super-slow-motion shots.
Interchangeable Lens Mounts
The MAVO Edge incorporates a native KineMOUNT but offers the choice of separately available PL, LPL, passive E-mount, and active or passive EF adapters, enabling you to use a wide variety of cine-style and still photo lenses for individual projects.

Built-In ND Filters
An internal electronic ND filter with a range of 0.6 to 2.1 lets you tweak your exposure on the fly easily, and a swappable OLPF (optical low-pass filter) reduces UV and IR contamination for more accurate image reproduction.
Pro Interfaces
Dual 1.5G/3G SDI (BNC) output connectors let you monitor or record your footage externally, including embedded metadata and audio signals. Genlock, timecode, RS232, and RS (remote) ports plus Wi-Fi offer multi-camera and control options, while the GbE RJ45 interface and USB Type-C interfaces enable streaming and external recording.
The dual media slots can be used for duplicate or main and proxy recording.
Compact Form
Constructed with a carbon-fiber housing, the compact, bantamweight (3.3 lb) MAVO Edge is small enough for handheld and stabilizer work and can be expanded with your choice of accessories for tripod and dolly use. Power choices include pro V-Mount batteries and Sony BP-U30 type batteries.
