New Feature-Rich Canon Camcorders for 2016

Strengthening its consumer and prosumer offerings, Canon introduced the VIXIA HF G40 and HF R72 camcorders for 2016. Both of these cameras build on their predecessors—the VIXIA HF G30 and HF R62, respectively—adding new features and functionality.

The VIXIA HF G40 is one of the flagship models in the Vixia lineup, packing many features—both consumer-friendly and semi-professional—into a compact and ergonomic chassis. New on this model are the Wide DR gamma from the Cinema EOS line and the Highlight Priority Mode. Both of these modes offer greater control over the camera’s recorded image and bring more artistic control of your final result. Since this camera is targeted at the prosumer, a tilting EVF, high bit-rate recording, and dual memory card slots are also offered.

The VIXIA HF R72 is more consumer oriented than the HF G40; however, it does not lack for features. It distinguishes itself with 32GB of built-in storage, so you can shoot without a memory card. Similar to the HF G40, the HF R72 also now features the Highlight Priority Mode to improve the dynamic range of your recorded images. A 57x zoom range, optical image stabilization, and slow/fast motion recording make the HF R72 both easy to use and feature rich.

Canon’s 2016 VIXIA camcorder lineup brings some new and exciting features to the table, so be sure to stay tuned.
