We at B&H Photo are pleased to announce new gear from Tiffen, available now. Maintaining its commitment to optical filters, Tiffen has the Pro100 Series Camera Filter Holder with 77 mm Adapter Ring that allows you to mount two 100mm (4 x 4") filters onto a lens with a 77mm front filter ring. The Pro100 filter holder is also available in a kit—the Pro100 ND Prime Filter Kit with 4 x 4" Solid Neutral Density 1.2 Filter—from Tiffen, which also includes a filter pouch. The filter holder lets you use a wide variety of filters, up to 4mm thick on your lens, without having to use clamp-on matte boxes and filter trays. The kit starts you off with a 1.2ND, great for bright daylight shoots, lowering your F-stop, or slowing your shutter speed, and it includes a pouch that can carry four filters, so you have a place to carry more filters as you acquire them.
However, Tiffen is more than just filters and filter accessories, and it is releasing the Lowel Prime location Bi-Color LED light fixture. This fixture is built into a durable chassis and features a Gold mounting plate for battery power, although it can be powered by an AC outlet because it includes an AC switched power supply with a 16' cable and supports power from 90 to 240 VAC. It offers flicker-free dimmable output from 3300 to 5600K and produces about 5800 Lumens, while drawing a meager 82W of power. Suitable for use in a grid or on a stand, the fixture can be used on interior productions, and its IP65 rating should provide confidence when shooting exteriors.
Further rounding out Tiffen’s new releases are the Steadicam Aero 15 and the Steadecam Steadimate 15 Support System for Motorized Gimbals. The Aero 15 represents a consolidation of the Steadicam lineup and is compatible with a variety of previous generations of Steadicam gear. However, the Aero features a tool-free adjustment design, an A-15 vest and arm, and a 7" onboard HD monitor. The Aero 15 arm supports camera packages up to 10 pounds, and is replaceable with a heavier-weight arm for larger payloads. It’s like the Aero 15, but designed to work with motorized gimbals instead, using a dynamically balanced mechanical gimbal. The Steadimate 15 combines the advantages of both worlds. The vest and arm redistribute the weight of the camera and gimbal while supporting and isolating it from your body’s movement. This allows the gimbal to work less, which will make for smoother shots, and the weight support from the vest and arm should make shooting with a gimbal less taxing, so you can stay stronger throughout the day.
