Thypoch Releases Simera-C 16mm T1.9 Cine Lens and Six-Lens Kit

Thypoch Releases Simera-C 16mm T1.9 Cine Lens and 6-Lens Kit

Thypoch has unveiled the new Simera-C 16mm T1.9 full-frame cine lens, available in E- and M-mounts, along with a Simera-C six-lens kit and custom foam inserts. The 16mm is now the widest focal length in the series, with a 106° field of view. At T1.9, it’s a tad slower than the T1.5 maximum aperture seen in the rest of the line, but still quite impressive for so wide a focal length. The 6-lens kit, also available in E- and M-mounts, contains the 16mm, 21mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm.

The Simera-C 16mm T1.9 promises to be just as compact as the rest of the series, while still maintaining consistent character and center sharpness. The lens has fifteen elements in eleven groups, and Thypoch promises little to no focus breathing, distortion, or chromatic aberration, even when shooting wide open. The 16mm has a 6.3” minimum focus distance, and its weight is along the same lines as the 21mm, with the E-mount version coming in at 490g and the M-mount version at 467g.

The Simera-C series continues to be a strong choice for video shooters wanting character-rich lenses that are lightweight enough to be used handheld, on a gimbal, or in creative rigging scenarios. The six-lens kit is the most comprehensive Thypoch cinema offering to date, and the custom foam inserts for Pelicans and other hard cases will be useful for those looking to build out a set.
