Canon has developed a completely new line of fast PL-mount cinema primes, named Sumire, which are designed for beautiful rendering characteristics as they approach wide open. Jake Estes, from B&H, took this set of full-frame lenses out for a test shoot with the Canon C700 FF and shared his thoughts. The set included a 14mm T3.1, 20mm T1.5, 24mm T1.5, 35mm T1.5, 50mm T1.3, 85mm T1.3, and 135mm T2.2. More fun and informational videos can be found at BandH.com.

Cinematographer Mark Raker gets his hands on Sigma’s FF high-speed prime focal lenses and pairs them with a Canon C700 shooting at 5.9K and a Sony A7S II shooting at 4K. With specs like a 95mm front diameter, 0.8 moduling, focus scales with 180-degree barrel rotation, and a rotational angle of 60 degrees for the iris ring, Raker shows how adding these lenses to your cinema collection will give you uncompromised versatility for any project you shoot. Here's a quick look at some of the new cine lenses showcased at NAB 2018. Many of the top manufacturers, including ARRI, Canon, and Angenieux, displayed a wide range of cinema lenses — from entire new lines of primes to impressive anamorphic zoom lenses. It’s exciting to see that there are even more cinematic lens options available than ever before.
